Responsibilities include teaching swimming skills and individual physical fitness, as well as rhythmic breathing and stroke development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess the following:
* A Bachelor's degree in a health-related field;
* 1 year of teaching experience;
* Red Cross Certification for Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor;

The Department of Counseling and Mental Health Professions, in the School of Health Sciences at Hofstra University, is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor, for a tenure-track position in the graduate Marriage and Family Therapy program beginning Fall 2026. An additional stipend will be provided for serving as Program Director.
The ideal candidate is engaged in scholarly endeavors with demonstrated both research and teaching excellence. An intrinsic excitement for teaching and interaction with students is highly valued. The successful candidate will have a rich background in family systems, including both research and clinical practice within a range of populations and cultural contexts.
The Program:
The Marriage and Family Therapy program, an in-person 54 credit degree program, prepares students for licensure in New York State. The program features dynamic, practice-based courses led by dedicated faculty who prepare students with the skills necessary to work with couples and families to resolve relationship conflicts. Students receive intensive academic and clinical training through theory and applied classes and an integrated internship that's completed at the on-campus Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic.
The Department:
The Department of Counseling and Mental Health Professions offers six graduate-level programs in School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, Creative Arts Therapy Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling in Mental Health, as well as advanced certificates in Addiction and Substance Abuse and various counseling specialties, and an undergraduate minor in Human Services.
The School:
The School of Health Sciences is home to four academic departments, including Allied Health and Kinesiology; Counseling and Mental Health Professions; Population Health, and Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. The mission of the school to educate students in the theory and practices of their specialized area of study, with a strong foundation in the natural, social, and behavioral sciences.
