Job DescriptionDescriptionWhat You'll Do: The ideal candidate will support the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities and partnership with the Escalon's People Operations clients, handling both tactical and strategic initiatives. They will maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices. You will grow, you will learn, you will see many different companies and industries, and you'll work with a knowledgeable team! We are looking for enthusiastic team players with a strong client facing HR/people operations background who are excited to share and apply their knowledge with a premier roster of growing clients who lean on our team to provide them PeopleOps guidance and support. Day-to-Day Responsibilities also include:
External Client Collaborations: The primary responsibility of this role is to offer HR subject matter expertise to Escalon's HR Operations client base.
General: Assist clients with all its HR needs while they focus on growing their business. Responsibilities can range from full-cycle HR to project based.
HRBP Strategy: Accountable for developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the client's overall business strategy; develop, and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures that enhances the client's company growth.
HR Administration & Compliance: Ensure clients have a strong HR infrastructure and ensure compliance. Provide recommendations and assist in creation of company policies to ensure consistency, compliance and efficiency (creating and writing employee handbooks, travel & entertainment policies…etc.), FSLA classifications and audit, support required employee training.
Mergers & Acquisitions: Ensure clients are due diligence ready by providing best practices when services are started.
HRIS Systems: Lead and/or partner with our People Support team to implement and administer all major PeopleOps related software systems including but not limited to HRIS, payroll, 401(k), benefits administration and performance evaluation.
Benefits: Research, recommend, implement and perform benefits administration and management, including enrollments, terminations, claims resolution and invoice auditing. Assist in putting together a strategic benefits package (plan evaluations and selection, open enrollment planning, 401(k), LOA, COBRA, etc.). In addition, Escalon has its own benefits brokerage and the Benefits team can work in partnership with the HRBP on this effort.
Onboarding/Offboarding: Recommend new hire orientation and termination processes and partner with the PeopleOps HR Support team to ensure completion.
Payroll: Partner with Payroll team and oversee the implementation and/or process payroll processing for multiple clients in a timely manner and assist employees with questions.
Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients regarding payroll-related inquiries, concerns and requests
Collaborate with cross functional teams including payroll processing, HR and finance to ensure accurate and on time payroll delivery
Leave of Absence: Partner with clients to draft parental leave policies and customize and deliver each employee LOA packet, support employee questions, and ensure leave is compliant based on local, state, and federal laws.
Employee Relations: Recommend, implement, and support clients with feedback process, and support employee relations questions, demands, grievances, or other issues.
Performance Management: Assess needs and provide recommendation to design, customize, and implement performance management selection and processes, ensuring all employees receive timely and actionable feedback for applicable clients.
Culture & Employee Relations: Assess, recommend, and develop programs designed to enhance employee morale and productivity, and recognize employees for their contributions to the company's success. Assist with preventing and resolving concerns. Collaborate with managers to resolve issues and assist to prepare corrective action.
What You'll Bring: Must Haves:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance or a related field.
Proven experience in payroll processing, client relationship management.
Strong understanding of payroll regulations, compliance and best practices
Proficient in using payroll software and Microsoft Office suite, Jira, ADP, Gusto, Paychex, and Quickbooks
Must have 3+ years of human resources/people operations experience within a client facing, consulting capacity.
Must have 3+ years with payroll/tax set up experience
Brings 5+ years preferably as an HR business partner or HR manager.
Must have knowledge of startup HR best practices, while thriving in an entrepreneurial environment.
Strong business acumen and a passion for HR; people-oriented and results driven.
Must have exceptional knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws.
Ability to exercise autonomy, independent judgment, and decision making; providing sound recommendation to clients to resolve issues and mitigate risk while providing excellent client delivery.
Ability to hit the ground running with minimal training and oversight.
Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and possess an eye for detail.
Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong interpersonal skills, high level of professionalism and integrity.
Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative with a sense of urgency.
Knowledge of HRIS, Payroll and Recruiting systems (Gusto, Zenefits, Namely, Rippling, ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, Intuit, TriNet, Justworks, Sequoia, Greenhouse, Lever, etc.).
While majority of the position is a work from home role, must be available for video calls and in professional attire (business casual).

Qualifications

Requirements:
Dodge & Cox has a 4/1 hybrid work model, and all Dodge & Cox employees are required to be in their assigned office as noted in the job posting Monday - Thursday each week, with the option to work remotely on Friday.
The salary range for this position is $160k - $200k.
The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration. Position Summary
Brown Advisory is seeking a professional, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to join our Baltimore office as Payroll Manager.
In this role, your focus will be on the supervision, review, and further development of Brown Advisory's global payroll function. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, Payroll and Equity, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for review of the US bi-weekly payroll, along with review of the monthly payrolls within the UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the UAE. The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the organization's payroll functions throughout each global office, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable country and state regulations, while providing excellent service to Brown Advisory colleagues worldwide.

Utilize, maintain, and manage Workday payroll configuration, partnering with technology teams to ensure payroll tools remain effective and efficient.
Assist with the expansion of business activities in new jurisdictions, both domestic and international.
Manage relationships with external vendors.
Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
Partner with the Financial Reporting Team to verify accuracy of all GL mapping within payroll.
Assist the Accounting Team with monthly review of payroll ledger reconciliations.
Prepare/finalize monthly, quarterly, annual payroll metric reports, and any ad hoc payroll reporting requests.
Maintain payroll policy and procedure documentation as necessary.
Maintain and organize payroll records in compliance with established retention policies and best practices.

This is a hands-on role that requires proactive analytical capabilities, an in-depth knowledge of payroll and benefits and a mindset focused on process improvement and efficiencies. This position works closely with the People and Culture (HR) team, Canada Finance team, IT Team supporting payroll and the ADP payroll service provider.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as the Canada payroll subject matter expert and lead.
Lead, manage, develop and mentor a Payroll Specialist.
Supervise the preparation and submission of semi-monthly payrolls including reviewing and approving payroll reconciliations in-line with procedures, policies, and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) controls.
Review monthly payrolls for certain non-Canadian jurisdictions (United Kingdom, Germany and Spain) associated with our credit ratings business, including preparation of payroll related journal entries (i.e. vacation accruals, P11D, etc.).
Assess and resolve escalated payroll issues and discrepancies.
Maintain payroll processes, procedures and controls ensuring up to date as business/processes evolve.
Lead and review the year end payroll calculations, reconciliations, filings, (T4's, T4A's, Releve1, T2200, EHT, CNESST, Alberta Worker Comp, Worksafe BC, etc.) to ensure issued in accordance with CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) and other regulatory requirements, including other jurisdictions (i.e. United Kingdom [P60's, P11D's], Germany and Spain).
Own and maintain payroll SOX compliance, design of internal controls and process maps.
Perform quarterly ADP WFN user access reviews.
Lead and manage any payroll audits that may arise because of regulatory, internal, and external audits.
Stay current on the latest regulatory changes with respect to payroll and benefits to ensure payroll policy adherence and compliance per province.
Ensure an environment of continuous improvement is maintained to sustain maximum efficiency by researching, recommending, and implementing new or enhanced policies, procedures and processes to improve operational effectiveness.
Work closely with the People and Culture team in all compensation and benefit related developments, ensuring all changes are communicated to the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
Perform other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience with Ontario payroll a must and Quebec payroll knowledge an advantage.
Canadian Payroll Association designation is required. Knowledge of relevant payroll and benefits legislation including CRA requirements laws, regulations, and guidelines as well as Employment Standards legislation.
Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting. CMA/CGA/CA/CPA designation preferred.
5+ years of progressive Canada payroll experience in a management role, including supervision of one or more direct reports
Proficiency in interpreting policies, procedures, benefits and pension guidelines.
Knowledge of relevant tax requirements, including HST and QST requirements laws, regulations and guidelines.
Knowledge of accounting as related to payroll, benefits and RRSP/DPSP, including in-depth knowledge of analysis and reconciliation.
Knowledge of restricted stock units is a plus.
Knowledge of ADP WFN (Payroll software), Workday (HRIS) and Oracle Financials (ERP) a plus.
Strong analytical skills and background, financial acumen and attention to detail.
Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy of discretion and a strong self-starter and a multi-tasker.
High quality written and verbal communication skills, customer service focused and the ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally and globally in a growing and ever-changing environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
