Responsible for design development, equipment layouts, construction drawings and bill of materials for large projects involving the installation of new utility infrastructure and modifications to existing utility infrastructure on Client system.
Responsibilities Include:
· Provides in-progress design coordination with construction crew, clients, and internal and external customers to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner.
· Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Engineering field.
· Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Required Skills and Experience:
BS Electrical Engineering degree.
2+ years of prior industry experience
Understanding of power engineering theories and principles.
Understanding of practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing recommendations.
Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
CAD software knowledge a plus.
Understanding of power distribution systems.
Ability to understand complex initiatives across multiple teams/platforms.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Quantitative and analytical skill set.
Must be able to interpret and analyze customer's electrical, architectural, and structural drawings, one-line diagram and load letters.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing demands.
Proficient in the use of all software needed to produce quality electrical design drawings such as AutoCAD, TED, Microsoft Office programs.
Additional Requirements:

Beta Engineering has an internal opening for an Electrical Engineer Team Leader. Electrical Engineer Team Leaders (EETL) are supervisors of multiple Electrical Engineers and Electrical Engineering Technicians overseeing the design, interpretation, application and documentation of drawings, schematics, and diagrams. The EETL is tasked with ensuring that their team's designs, and applications, are completed to code and standards set forth by the appropriate authoritative bodies. In addition, EETLs are responsible for the training, recruiting, hiring, scheduling, assigning and discipline of EEs and EETs under their supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Oversee all engineering responsibilities and activities• Delegates engineering responsibilities and activities within their team• Leads the design and checking processes• Manages the day-to-day activities of schedule and design• Directly trains and directs EEs and EETs under their charge• Maintains design standards and training guidelines• Coordinates and problem solves issues between design teams and departments• Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, project managers, customers and their representatives.• Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer's experience. • Travels periodically to both customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits.• Performs bi-yearly evaluations on all employees reporting to them

About the Opportunity
The Transmission Planning Engineer position is responsible for transmission planning functions across FirstEnergy's transmission and subtransmission systems in the FirstEnergy area. The primary focus is on studying and planning the safe and reliable operation of transmission and subtransmission lines and substations. In addition, the position is responsible for performing studies related to generation and load interconnections attaching to the system within the assigned planning areas. The engineer will perform transmission planning activities with input from the operating companies, other utilities, generator owners, the Regional Transmission Organization, and Regional Reliability Organizations. The position has the responsibility to initiate, recommend, and assist in the development of the capital portfolio for reliability related projects within the planning area of responsibility. The position works closely with the Operations Center to provide support during storms, heavy loading periods, and abnormal system events.
Responsibilities Include:
Providing technical support and studies to develop transmission and subtransmission infrastructure projects, plans, and capital budgets to maintain the reliability and integrity of the FE system.
Performing timely completion of bulk and area transmission systems studies ensuring compliance with NERC, PJM and FE planning criteria.
Proposing and economically justifying recommended mitigation projects to any planning criteria deficiencies identified through system studies. If capital projects cannot be implemented in the needed timeframe, a detailed operating solution is prepared and presented to Operations for review and implementation.
Performing development of annual capital budgets by requesting cost estimates and preparing presentations associated with the capital portfolio process.
Performing studies associated with the connection of new loads, generators and merchant transmission projects.
Providing support to the Operations Centers when required, such as during severe weather, heavy loading or abnormal system events. Frequently this support requires rapid turn-around of an evaluation of whether the system can accommodate an outage and remain in a secure condition should the next contingency occur. It could also involve operational recommendations to alleviate abnormal system conditions, abnormal voltages, or equipment overloads.
Working with various industry groups to meet requirements / obligations that FE has within the industry, and actively promote FE ideas / methods / procedures that the industry should be using as it moves forward. Formal industry groups include NERC, RFC and PJM.
Preparing responses to state and federal commission requests for information
Providing technical testimony for regulatory and legal inquiries as assigned
Supporting efforts to prepare submittals for compliance related to various planning related activities.
Participating in the annual maintenance of the department's planning philosophy, facility connection document, and other procedures and documents.
Preparing work products to meet requirements of various governmental agencies, such as public utility commissions, other state agencies, FERC, and other federal agencies, by providing input to filings as required.

The Engineer works within Energy Delivery Transmission Operations Support (EDTOS) Power Network Analysis (PNA) group. EDTOS groups support the 24/7 operations of FirstEnergy's (FE's) three Transmission System Control Centers (SCCs) in Akron, OH and Fairmont, WV. The SCCs provide oversight of FE's transmission grid through monitoring, optimization, and control. Responsibilities include:
Maintain, enhance, and accurately resolve real-time issues of the Network applications within the real-time Energy Management System (EMS).
Review and update SCADA equipment capabilities and ICCP telemetry.
Perform and aid in performing studies relating to the operation of FE Transmission system.
Support documentation and performance tasks in collaboration with Transmission Planning and Protection in preparation of seasonal assessment studies and Network model comparisons.

Design auxiliary AC and DC power systems.
Develop SCADA system and communications interfaces.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Implementation (Project) Engineer:
The Implementation Engineer, known internally as Project Engineer, is a core technical contributor within Professional Services. Operating in the Competent to Fluent fluency band, they execute project tasks independently, apply contextual knowledge to resolve issues, and communicate directly with clients to represent technical outcomes. Project Engineers ensure technical delivery is reliable, professional, and aligned to scope, freeing senior engineers to focus on complex or architectural work.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute technical project tasks independently across Aldridge service offerings (e.g., O365 migrations, server builds, network device configurations, security deployments).
Apply contextual knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues without requiring constant escalation.
Provide clear, professional client communication regarding project progress, outcomes, and technical impacts.
Update PSA tickets, configuration records, and documentation accurately and on time.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Coordinators to align schedules, dependencies, and client expectations.

Support and mentor Associate Project Engineers on executing documented tasks and improving client communication.
Qualifications
Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
2-4 years of IT project or systems engineering experience (MSP experience strongly preferred).
Demonstrated competence with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking fundamentals, and endpoint management.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot systems independently, escalating only for complex or non-standard issues.
Experience communicating technical outcomes and requirements directly with clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Project Design and Development
Design and construction for stormwater systems, water/wastewater treatment, distribution and collection systems.
Design, and construction support for municipal and private development projects such as green infrastructure, sediment and erosion control, utility services, construction details, stormwater management, wastewater systems and grading design.
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using tools like HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM.
Generate H&H reports detailing modeling process, results, recommendations, and their compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for utility projects.
Lead plan set development to ensure the plans convey the design intent and meet the goals of the project
Technical Duties
Provide technical support on water resources or treatment issues to government agencies.

Compliance & Permitting
