A top research university with strong academics and great spirit, Western Michigan University (WMU) in Kalamazoo, Michigan is a dynamic center for learning. WMU offers over 125 undergraduate programs and close to 100 graduate programs in liberal arts, sciences, professional programs and health fields such as its popular Occupational Therapy program. Another exciting aspect of WMU study is the extracurricular life, which includes 300 student organizations and many NCAA Division I-A intercollegiate athletic teams. For local individuals who wish to take personal enrichment classes without pursuing a degree there is the Extended University, which offers non-credit classes in a variety of disciplines. Also comprehensive and vibrant are Western Michigan's student services. WMU's career services offers more than career assessments and counseling in interviewing and resume writing. WMU also provides students with referrals to jobs posted by alumni. They also connect students with alumni through a mentoring program intended to give students support, advice and the opportunity to network. Legacy scholarships for students whose family members have attended WMU, as well as other scholarships, work-study and loans are some of the financial aid options available to eligible students. Additionally, qualifying graduate students may receive fellowships or assistantships to cover tuition.
