Works as a part of a team to provide a safe working environment for Company associates. Protects Company assets from loss due to fire, severe weather, theft and vandalism. Controls access to Company property by ensuring appropriate identification and credentials of associates and visitors Performs various security duties. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to Shift Sergeant when necessary and updating Shift Sergeant on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
Is vigilant and observant while stationed at posts in lobbies and on patrol.
Monitors alarm and access control systems, and responds within established procedures to all signals.
Makes required patrols inside and on the perimeter of Western & Southern Financial Group property. Reports issues verbally using radio and documents timely and accurately according to the appropriate procedures.
Monitors CCTV and radios, and responds within established procedures.
Acts within established procedures to control access and provides a safe working environment for Company associates.
Maintains accurate and timely records and written reports.
Maintains professional appearance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
High School Diploma Or G.E.D. - Required
Proven experience with a military, state, county or municipal police agency or private security training. - Required
Proven experience making timely, sound decisions and using good judgment in day-to-day responsibilities and in emergencies. - Required
Proven ability to prepare correspondence, reports and forms using a prescribed format and conforming to proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style. - Required
Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect or interpret data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. - Required
Possesses and displays excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to convey information, verbally and in writing, to internal and external customers in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner. - Required
Willingness to work any shift and make interior and exterior patrols by foot. - Required
Requires visual acuity to be observant to conditions and situations necessary to maintain the security of Company premises. - Required
Must be able to hear auditory alarms and observe closed-circuit security monitors. - Required
Required to dress professionally and maintain Company-furnished uniforms. - Required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. - Preferred
Ability to learn security-related software. - Required
Work Setting/Position Demands:
Works in both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Position is required to remain in a continuously stationary position (sitting or standing) for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other office and security equipment and while on foot patrol.
Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
Requires visual acuity to be observant to conditions and situations necessary to maintain the security of Company premises and to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents.
Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical capability is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Requires ability to climb steps, reach, bend, kneel, crawl and crouch, use hands and arms to grasp, hold, push, use a computer and security equipment as well as defend one's self and others against attack. Must be able to lift a maximum of 25 lbs.
Proven ability to hear auditory alarms and observe closed-circuit security monitors.
Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
Associate must be able to operate a motor vehicle for short and/or long distances
Associate must be able to travel via car
Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record

What you'll do
Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the buildings or being on company property.
Verify the identification and eligibility of all personnel entering a BCBSKS building.
Escort unauthorized personnel out of the buildings and off company property.
Stand by if requested when an employee is involuntarily terminated.
Patrol parking lots to provide safety for employees, insured's, visitors and property.
Check company buildings and property after regular work hours for security and possible maintenance problems.
Enforce traffic regulations on company property.
As applicable, notify city authorities of security problems.
Assist emergency personnel (police, fire and ambulance).
Notify relief personnel of occurrences that require follow-up.
Escort employees to their vehicles as requested.
Notify appropriate personnel of incoming calls.
Notify appropriate maintenance department employees of heating/cooling/electrical issues.
Ticket vehicles that are improperly parked or do not have company issued parking sticker displayed in the rear window.
May be required to sit or stand for long periods, up to and including 100% of work shift.

What you need

Must maintain and show proficiency with a firearm annually for term of employment in accordance with current state law or must show proficiency within 6 months of employment. This will be accomplished through the employee's current agency, agency retired from, or a Blue Cross designated range master.
Must provide own firearm that is acceptable by the BCBSKS Security supervisor.
Ability to comprehend and operate a PC based security alarm system and surveillance camera system.
Strong computer skills in order to operate effectively with company systems and programs.
Certification in CPR is preferred. Employees hired into this position who are not certified will obtain certification through internal training.
Valid driver's license required.

* In collaboration with the Office Coordinator I, execute assigned administrative duties such as, but not limited to:

* Create workstation and office name signs and board name blocks

John Knox Village is a not-for-profit Life Care Retirement Community offering a full range of independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care options for more than 1,000 senior residents on our 70-acre campus, located in Pompano Beach, convenient to major highways and transportation options.
What's your day like?
As a Full Time Security Lead at John Knox Village of Florida, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the Security Manager with key responsibilities that ensure a safe and secure environment for our residents. You will oversee staff performance, ensuring that all employees are fulfilling their duties at designated locations and alerting management of any staffing needs during assigned shifts. Your responsibilities will also include patrolling and monitoring the campus, promptly reporting security issues, and documenting emergencies as they arise. Maintaining accurate shift reports will be essential to provide clear communication and accountability. You will uphold village safety and security procedures while also managing parking operations by issuing citations when necessary, contributing to a secure and well-organized community.
This position is vital in fostering a culture of safety and trust.

Must have excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.
Must possess excellent customer and employee relations skills.
Must be able to obtain Alcohol Awareness, First Aid and CPR certifications.
Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
Must read, write, speak and understand English.

Must be able to physically restrain adults more than 200 pounds.
