    JOB TITLE: Employment Specialist DIVISION: Employment Services FLSA: Non - Exempt REPORTS TO: Service Coordinator SALARY: $ 45,000.00 to $50,000.00 Under supervision of the Employment Services Coordinator, assists participants in securing permanent employment opportunities through individual employment case management and facilitation of job readiness training. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Identifies, outreaches and recruits' eligible participants for specific program population. Conducts a thorough assessment of each participant's education, work experience, skills, abilities, and qualifications to determine suitability for employment. Develops Individual Employment Plans for each program participant, outlining employment related needs/goals. Evaluates participant's progress of planned goals and documents participants' accomplishments. Provides intensive employment case management for each participant and provides linkages to a wide range of specialized and/or support services as needed. Work closely with each participant on the development of a resume and other documents required for employment. Assists participants with securing interview clothing, childcare and/or transportation. Plans, develops and facilitates pre-requisite training on job search and job readiness techniques to prepare participants for transition into employment. Works closely with each participant to identify and resolve problems/barriers that hinder employability. Works directly with the job development team to match participants to suitable employment opportunities. Provides post-employment services to program participants to build bridges to long term job retention. Uses a variety of methods to provide outreach that may include emails, home visits, phone calls, etc. Actively participates in staff and other meetings as required. Maintain accurate and up to date records on all program participants; prepares weekly/monthly reports and continuously collects, organizes and analyzes program data. Work closely with the Rapid Re-Housing Staff to ensure that qualified residents are accepted into the Housing program and provided with ongoing housing retention services. Participate in monthly team case conference meeting or as deemed appropriate Perform other job related duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree and two years' experience in casework, or employment and training programs, or Associate Degree and four years of relevant work experience. Ability to communicate effectively with people of all socioeconomic backgrounds; ability to identify participant needs and appropriate support services; ability to motivate program participants; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and ability to organize and prioritize work to be performed. Must have computer skills in word and excel. Must be available for evenings/weekend work. Must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle available for work. Provides systematic instruction for the trainee to learn the job skills at the work site. Makes job modifications when necessary to allow DeafBlind consumers to perform job successfully. Provides training to consumers and employer partners in communication strategies on the job. Assists consumers with self-advocacy regarding their responsibilities and opportunities at the work site including but not limited to identifying and requesting reasonable accommodations. Provides in-service training to potential employers, co-workers, and support service providers in regard to the consumers' skills, potential, and support needs. Such training can be applied to competitive or supported employment situations. Provides follow-up services for the employer and consumer in order to achieve a long-term and successful placement. Works collaboratively with a transdisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals to ensure that consumers receive all necessary training and supports for success in their vocational and personal goals. Required: Extensive local travel throughout Long Island, New York City, and lower Westchester. Meeting all job duties and responsibilities may require use of personal vehicle. The PROS Counselor/Employment Specialist does so through the provision of evidence-based individual and group services aimed at the development of expanded skills and supports. Working in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, they help program participants identify an individualized, meaningful course of care to become as self-sufficient as possible. Responsibilities * Manage a caseload of up to fifteen participants, providing individual counseling and case management as clinically appropriate, providing person-centered job development, benefits counseling, advocacy, and job site visits. * Develop and maintain collateral relationships with outside supports including family, case managers, housing program staff, and medical providers. * Conduct required assessments including the psychiatric rehabilitation, cultural, vocational readiness assessment, and the career profile. * Develop Individualized Recovery Plans (IRPs) in collaboration with participants based on the above listed assessments on a semi-annual basis, or more often as needed. * Develop and facilitate approximately four to ten skills-based workshops per week * Document participants progress/regression towards goals in monthly summary progress notes and determine the need for service modifications on an ongoing basis. * Provide services according to evidence-based practices including Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Family Psychoeducation, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, and Supported Employment. * Receive ongoing training in the Individual Placement and Support model through the Center for Practice Innovations and engage in their ongoing learning collaborative. * Track and submit periodic employment data to New York State, including Ticket-to-Work and NYESS * Network with local employers including community visits to form partnerships and increase the likelihood of participants securing employment * Identify and share job listings with participants and staff members on an ongoing basis * Act as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, including participation in weekly administrative and clinical meetings * Possess/develop proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AWARDS electronic health record. * Manage responsibility for maintenance of records, including timely documentation of services as required by the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services and the Office of Mental Health Qualifications Required: * Bachelors degree required - preferably in psychology, social work, or human services-related field. Conduct investigations into staff misconduct and prepare disciplinary actions, termination letters and other correspondence as needed and work with Director of HR to execute said items. Respond to staff concerns and work with the Director of HR in developing the best course of action to resolve challenges. Support the AVP, Program Directors, and their designees in resolving staff concerns Prepare weekly staffing vacancy report Coordinate with staff development team to schedule and track training sessions on site. Research and recommend training programs outside the organization. Other duties assigned by the Director of Human Resources EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor degree required in business or human resources management. 3-5 years of experience primarily in recruiting, employee relations and disciplinary matters. Ideal candidate will have experience in a non-profit, social service setting and a proven track record of success in recruitment and overall HR Coordination. Ability to succeed in a fast paced, environment and exceptional communication skills and ability to interact with senior level and executive level staff regularly. Must be able to multi-task.
