The club was founded in 1894 on the west side of Church Street near Kendal Green on land leased from Arthur Leslie Coburn and his neighbors.
A clubhouse was built in 1896.
The official opening of the Clubhouse was held Thursday 13 April 1905 and a special competitionwith neighbouring Clubs marked the occasion perfectly.
When leases were renegotiated in 1916, another owner wanted to sell his land to a home builder, and the golf club had to look for another location.
In November 1918, Winsor deeded 50 acres of his land to the Weston Golf Club.
An additional nine holes, also designed by Ross, were completed in 1923, again financed by a mortgage from Winsor.
Carrick began his career in golf course design in 1981 under the tutelage of the late C.E. “Robbie” Robinson, who schooled Carrick in the classic design principles that were passed onto him by renowned golf course architect, Stanley Thompson.
Founded in 1985 by Douglas Carrick, Carrick Design Inc. has established a reputation as one of the leading International golf course architectural firms.
Carrick’s first solo design, King Valley Golf Club, quickly gained recognition as one of Canada’s top ranked courses and was voted Canada’s 2nd best new course in 1991 by Golf Digest.
Carrick Design have enjoyed a long and wonderful working relationship with the Weston Golf and Country Club since 1997.
The Humber Valley River Course was named Best Golf Development in 2005 by Homes Overseas Magazine.
Muskoka Bay Club was named Best New Course in 2006 by Fairways and Ontario Golf Magazine.
Doug Carrick is a full member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and has served on the Board of Governors, Executive Committee and as President in 2009/10.
