Westone company history timeline

1960

Laurence Bettis, a director and a member of the Moore family, was his chief opponent, and, in 1960, Bettis and his board allies were able to elect William E. Irvin as president.

1962

Though Schoonover was then given the title chairman of the board, his power was much reduced, and he resigned in 1962.

In 1981, the bank was placed administratively under a holding company--Moore Financial Group Inc.--which provided the legal means for it to expand, largely through acquiring existing banks, into the states of Washington, Oregon, and Utah.

To take advantage of this change, the directors of Idaho First decided to create their own holding company, Moore Financial Group Inc., established in 1981.

The serial number generally comprises 7 digits, the first one giving the year (for example a serial number starting with 1 indicates aguitar designed in 1981). It is possible that the second and third digits indicate the month.

1981—Westone electric and bass models launched

1984

Much of this expansion was done under the direction of Daniel R. Nelson, who came to Moore Financial in 1984 to coordinate the subsidiaries in Utah and Oregon.

An interesting and informative article from the Music UK Guitar Special 1984 on the origins of the Westone guitar brand and the manufacturing process, including exclusive pictures of guitars being assembled at the Matsumoku factory.

1985

Nelson was named president and chief operating officer in 1985, becoming chairperson and chief executive officer the following year.
