Technical Assistant - Power & Recovery We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Assistant to join the Power & Recovery Department at the Fernandina Beach Mill. This role is critical in supporting operational excellence, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the effective training and development of department personnel. The Technical Assistant will also collaborate closely with the Engineering team on new projects and provide leadership coverage during weekend operations as part of the weekend duty team. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship, with the expectation to lead by example and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in these areas. Description of role: The Plant Optimization Engineer Position (POE) is a developmental program which focuses on hiring recent college graduates with degrees in engineering (0-2 years experience) into a rotational training experience with the goal of developing them into well-rounded employees and future leaders at PCA. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. What is PCA's POE Program? The POE Program is a 2-year rotational training program designed to give recent engineering graduates in depth, hands-on technical training in the Maintenance and Production departments of a corrugated box plant, and a well-rounded understanding of the corrugated packaging industry as a whole. The Fabricating Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of machines and personnel associated with finishing activities including folding, gluing, waxing, stripping, and bundling. Job Description Job Title: Shared Services Administrator Role & Responsibilities: • Provide general administrative support to the plant including both financial and non-financial plant activities. • Responsible for Accounts Payable • Monitor Jax Accounting & Genpact email box daily, enter & process invoices in Oracle within a 24 hour turnaround (Approx 50+ new daily) • Update corresponding spreadsheets as needed with any new invoices received • Follow up and communicate with vendors, USG Employees or other plant departments as needed to resolve Genpact exception issues • Research and advise on any vendor concerns - missing payments, incorrect invoices, etc. • Tracks freight receipts • Verify and process daily raw material receipts and update corporate AP spreadsheet • Update freight spreadsheet as needed for AP exceptions to freight invoices • Verify, track, or research CSX shipments for raw material railcar deliveries • File receiving & shipping paperwork • File Raw Material receipt documents daily as completed • File incoming/outgoing BOL paperwork • Maintain files for office • Collects and distributes mail • Manage office supplies by monitoring usage, ordering new supplies, organizing supply closet and maintaining effectiveness • Monitor Gate Entrance camera and assist with visitors as needed • Answer outside line - questions related to shipping, location, and transfers to appropriate party • Other general administrative duties as needed • Assist employees with miscellaneous documents - eyeglasses, work boots, direct deposit, etc • File HR documentation Qualifications & Requirements: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to identify issues and respond proactively • Skilled in critical and investigative thinking • Strong attention to detail. • Well organized with the ability to multi-task • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook • Basic accounting skills Preferred Skills • Experience with Oracle • Data entry and accounts payable knowledge Additional information: Full-time employees work during normal business hours of 7AM - 5PM, with 40 hours per week. Overtime as needed. Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items up to 25 pounds regularly/occasionally, and to walk short distances around the office or between plant buildings. Occasionally (less than 10%) may be asked to assist with moving furniture for parties, training, or any meeting as necessary. Working conditions: Work is performed in an office environment, working in close proximity to others, noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, computer, keyboards, copy/fax machine, telephone, etc. This is not a remote position. CAREER OPPORTUNITY: The Reliability Manager provides leadership and support to improve and optimize process and production systems reliability. This role interacts with all maintenance and operating areas. The Reliability Manager reports to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager. HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK: * Utilize Smurfit WestRock\u2019s Enterprise Asset Management System (J.D. Edwards) to implement world class: * Workflow Planning and Execution * Precision, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance * Lubrication routes, Vibration Analysis routes, IR analyses and other techniques * Ensure systems are in place for maintenance and operations to use to better understand, monitor and communicate the health of all production processes and equipment. * Actively participate on Performance Excellence teams. * Review and follow-up on equipment failures, utilizing root cause failure analysis, and offer solutions and own corrective action to prevent future failures. * Champion and lead the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process for the mill. * Integrate reliability centered maintenance, risk base inspections, equipment condition monitoring, root cause analysis, critical spare parts management and other reliability best practices in normal day-to-day activities * Provide mill-wide technical expertise for the analysis, development and evaluation of new maintenance technologies and equipment, and fully utilize all existing technology. * Serve as a resource for operators and maintenance to learn and understand more about maintenance processes and their related systems and strategies. * Identify opportunities for improvement within processes, equipment/controls, environmental/safety areas, employee work environment, costs, quality, etc\u2026 * Manage reliability KPI\u2019s and their reporting. * Support the mill\u2019s ISO requirements, especially Maintenance\u2019s requirements. * Assist on mill wide projects as needed. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: Knowledge of: * Paper Manufacturing Process * Maintenance best practices * RCFA and other formal problem solving approaches. * Process and Systems Improvement * CMMS, in general and JD Edwards, specifically. Ability to: * Build consensus among diverse groups with minimal conflict. * Accomplish tasks through the use of others. * Lead teams of Maintenance employees. * Understand business and financial systems and application of systems and data. * Form effective business relationships/partnerships at various levels within the company to accomplish desired results. Experience/Education: * B. S. Degree Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Pulp and Paper), or equivalent experiences is preferred. Preferred Qualifications: * The candidate should have demonstrated capabilities and at least 5+ years of experience in paper or paperboard or containerboard manufacturing and maintenance processes. * Experience in troubleshooting problems and finding workable business solutions. * Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC problem solving experience is a plus.
