Wet 'n Wild company history timeline

1986

White Water Slideways was the other in the ground slide on that hill and replaced in 1986 by a tall tower and five new slides from WhiteWater West Industries.

1990

The Black Hole opened in 1990, replacing the original Corkscrew slides.

1994

In 1994, Millay was inducted into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Hall of Fame.

1998

In 1998, Millay retired and sold his 10 Wet ’n Wild waterparks around the world to various companies.

1999

Selling tickets online since 1999 Tours and Vacation Ideas

2000

With deep roots in Orange County, the History Center opened in 2000 and is operated by Orange County and the nonprofit Historical Society of Central Florida, Inc.

2003

The attraction still run today amazingly and was transformed in 2003 into “The Blast.” The theme to that makeover was a tour of a water factory where everything was blowing up.

2006

In 2006, Wet ’n Wild became the first water park in the country to offer waterproof electronic wristbands that allowed guests to pay for anything in the park by simply scan-ning their bracelets.

2007

Brain Wash opened in 2007 and replaced the Blue Niagara braided slides and the Hydra Fighter swinging attraction.

2008

In 2008, Village Roadshow Theme Parks, the owners of Wet'n'Wild Water World, began to explore opportunities to expand the brand.

2009

Our friend Flex visited the park in 2009 and he was kind enough to provide us with this great picture of Bubba Tub.

Village Roadshow's ownership of Wet'n'Wild Hawaii was short-lived, as the park was sold to CNL Lifestyle Properties for an undisclosed sum in 2009.

2012

Blastaway Beach opened in 2012 and was the last Children’s Area to be installed at the park.

2013

In 2013, new Wet'n'Wild water parks were built by Village Roadshow Theme Parks in Las Vegas and Sydney.

2014

In 2014, Wet’ n Wild replaced Bubba Tub by the Aqua Drag Racer, a four lane KrakenRACER from Proslide.

2015

In 2015, the first Chinese Wet'n'Wild water park will open.

2016

Orlando said farewell to Wet ’n Wild on New Year’s Eve 2016, just shy of the park’s 40th anniversary.

In 2016, Premier Parks purchased Wild Water Kingdom in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and renamed it Wet'n'Wild Toronto.

2018

In July 2018, Parques Reunidos purchased Wet'n'Wild Sydney from Village Roadshow Theme Parks but later renamed the park Raging Waters Sydney.
