POSITION DESCRIPTION
HGL operates groundwater treatment systems for the US Army Corps of Engineers between north central New Jersey and southern New Jersey. The successful candidate will train under the current plant operator and be responsible for operation and maintenance of two groundwater treatment systems on a part-time basis with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
This is a remote work position in New Jersey and the candidate must have the ability to travel to work sites within the central part of the state, with travel to and around South Plainfield, NJ and Washington Borough, NJ. Travel expenses will be provided through mileage reimbursement or monthly stipend.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The person hired for this role will be responsible for performing various field assignments on a part-time basis including operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment systems; site inspections and reports; collecting environmental samples; responding to alarms; overseeing subcontractors, assisting in preparation of required daily, weekly and monthly reports; and attending and participating in monthly progress meetings. The operator will be required to have an N-2 Industrial Treatment Plant License.

Essential Job Functions:
This position will involve the operation of chemical process equipment in support of first-time scale-ups, process optimization and small-lot production of chemical-based materials in compliance with FDA's current Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines. The successful candidate will execute processing activities according to specific procedures, make observations, record data and maintain accurate documentation.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma, basic math skills and some knowledge of chemistry
Candidates should have mechanical aptitude, demonstrate their strong communication skills and be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to work with and move drum quantities of chemicals. Previous experience, as a chemical plant/pilot plant operator is desirable. Knowledge of chemical hazards, forklift operation and college courses in chemistry considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
Load/unload parts into V-Barrel and washer
Inspect parts for cleanliness, delamination, descaling, and deburring
Use calipers, micrometers, and ID gauges (training provided)
Perform visual checks to detect defective (NG) parts
Ensure correct media and machine settings per work standards
Change grinding wheels and perform machine changeovers
Complete production and quality logs, including daily inspection sheets
Handle scrap parts and complete scrap tickets
Lift up to 30 lbs and push/pull skids of parts
Stand for long periods during machine operation
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or general labor role
Basic mechanical aptitude or technical background preferred
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong work ethic and reliability

This position's primary focus will be the safe and reliable operation of a renewable natural gas (RNG) plant. The plant operator will ensure communications are maintained between plant personnel and local landfill staff. They will support plant operations, construction and well field tuning. Responsibilities will include operational tasks such as interfacing with a SCADA/HMI system; performing analytical tests; technical maintenance work to support plant operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Safe and reliable operations, maintenance and support activities associated with an RNG plant in a landfill setting.
• Recording, analyzing, and using plant operations data to ensure plant optimization.
• Ensure plant operations are maintained within required safety standards.
• Ensure project compliance with all local, state and federal rules and regulations.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, operate and replace necessary equipment, including preventative maintenance.
• Maintain proper instrument calibrations.
• Maintain well field database and associated recording records.
• Sample collection, testing and analysis for process control.
• Ongoing monitoring and adjustment of well field to maintain gas output and quality.
• Support operational staff to identify well field issues in a timely manner.
• Support engineering staff with construction planning and gas collection expansion.
• Maintain a positive and professional relationship with plant and landfill personnel.
• Maintain an appropriate level of plant staffing at all times.
• Ensure timely and professional communications with all plant stakeholders.
• Identify and communicate any adverse plant events to all stakeholders.
• Other duties or projects as assigned.
Requirements
1-3 years of experience with landfill gas to energy or LFG to RNG.
• 1-3 years of experience in chemical or gas processing.
• 1-3 years of experience in landfill operation.
• High school diploma or equivalency, technical college degree or vocational training desired.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Appropriate and professional oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities, including effective management of multiple priorities, strong organizational skills, maintenance of business relationships, and team building.
• Self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment and can operate independently.
• The ability to travel and accommodate an overnight stay (10% travel time).
• Must hold a valid U.S. driver's license with clean driving record.
