WETA company history timeline
WETA’s public service began 60 years ago when a group of visionaries led by Washington publisher Willard Kiplinger and former college dean and Arlington School Board Chairman Elizabeth Campbell secured a license from the FCC and launched WETA Channel 26 on October 2, 1961.
Co-founder & Workshop Manager Since co-founding the business with Richard Taylor in 1987, Tania now applies her talents to managing the workshop, from induction to archiving, as well as our associated businesses.
Successful passage of Regional Measure 2 (RM2) in 2004 allocated local toll bridge funds for regional ferry system expansion.
Over the five-day BART closure in the summer of 2015, San Francisco Bay Ferry carried 79 percent more passengers than normal compared to a similar five-day time period.
The WETA Board of Directors approved the 2016 Strategic Plan, which sets forth a vision, mission and priorities for the next 20 years of San Francisco Bay Ferry service.
