Qualifications:

General Information:
The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) at James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for the role of Grant Administrator. This position will serve the overall mission of JMU and the CSM by providing support to faculty and student research programs within the department of Biology (BIO) and support for Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC), Physics and Astronomy (P&A), Geology and Environmental Science (GES), and Math and Statistics (M&S). The Grant Administrator will be responsible for purchasing and travel functions for grants awarded by the Office of Sponsored Programs to CSM Principal Investigators (PIs), while adhering to State and Agency rules, regulations, and guidelines.
The mission of the CSM is to establish a culture of "discovery practice," in which students develop their knowledge, skills and habits by participating in science and mathematics practice. We place undergraduate student learning at the center of a rigorous research-based environment. The Grant Administrator will be important to the success of these programs. This full-time position is potentially telework eligible for up to two days per week. Duties and Responsibilities:
Aid principal investigators (PIs) with the business aspects of the grants they have received including purchases, travel, and other expenditures.
Collaborate with relevant CSM departments, Office of Sponsored Programs, and other JMU administrative units to successfully manage research award grants and project budgets.
Perform monthly account reconciliations and communicate status to PIs.
Oversee vendor payments, purchase orders, corporate card purchases.
Process travel for faculty and students related to research activities.
Assist with the preparation of budgets, budget justifications, and revisions.
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and other sponsor requirements for documentation and record retention.
Perform account oversight and financial management activities: resolving fiscal variances, cost transfers, post-award modifications, reconciling invoices, and completing account closeouts.
Provide technical and administrative assistance to faculty, while working across units as necessary.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting veterinarians with animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures
- Providing compassionate care and monitoring the well-being of animals in the clinic
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the clinic and animal housing areas

Emergency Communications Officer II

The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Communications Center (HRECC) is currently seeking experienced Emergency Communications Officers (ECO II) for part-time opportunities, which require a minimum commitment of 32 hours per month. These particular ECO II positions are part-time (no benefits) with a preferred hiring range from $23.10 - $24.84 per hour; however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy.
As a part-time ECO II, your duties will encompass a wide array of responsibilities, including receiving, classifying, processing, and dispatching emergency service calls. For non-emergency service calls, you'll be responsible for receiving, recording, and forwarding them appropriately. Maintaining and preparing computerized and other records and files is also a key aspect of the job.

Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED and moderate (1-3 years) experience in the field of public safety communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience in a multi-disciplinary emergency communications center.
* Released on at least two specialties (call taking, law enforcement dispatching, or fire and rescue dispatching).
* Availability to work at least 32 hours per month.
* Possession of or the ability to acquire the following within the timelines specified:
* VCIN Level B Operator (within 3 months)
* DCJS Basic Communicator Certification (within 12 months)
* Powerphone Total Response Certification (within 3 months)
* CPR (within 3 months)
* Any employee of the HRECC may be called upon to work over the scheduled shift or hours, as needed.
