Job Summary: The Dispensing Optician assists patients with the selection and fitting of eyeglasses according to written optical prescriptions. Opticians recommend appropriate lens materials and designs based on patient needs and preferences. They advise patients on proper frame design, fit and performance. Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - 8am-5pm, Wednesday 11am-8pm and EVERY Saturday from 8am-12pm - totaling 38 - 40 hours per week. This position also has a generous commission opportunity. Duties/Responsibilities: Assist patients in the selection process and the delivery and fitting of patient eye glasses. Dispense prescription and non - prescription eyewear. Calculate insurance co-pay based on insurance eligibility. Process orders and review reports to monitor status on a daily basis. Verify glasses and notify patients for dispensing. Contact patients for follow up on progress of adapting to dispensed eyewear. Perform adjustments and repairs when necessary. Maintain inventory pertaining to all aspects of the optical retail area. Maintain displays of optical merchandise. Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff. Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Optical Department Manager. Provide outstanding patient care. Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy. Attend regular department meetings. Must meet attendance requirements as outlined in the current Wheaton Eye Clinic policy. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively with the staff and public. Superior customer service skills. Effective retail sales and service skills Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with shifting priorities. Possess a sincere interest in listening to and responding to patient concerns in a timely manner. Excellent computer skills; proficient in data entry, proficient with Microsoft Office suite, proficient in email communication. Knowledge of EMR system - Epic preferred. Ability to use and operate electronic office equipment including but not limited to computer, keyboard, mouse, fax machine, telephone, copier. Potential to travel to other locations Education and Experience: Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Position Purpose : The Managed Care Representative is responsible for assisting patients with authorization and referral issues to insure proper billing of claims. The Managed Care Representative will review individual insurance policies to ensure billing requirements are being met, provide follow-up on any concerns, determine and obtain necessary authorizations from payers and update accounts as necessary. Key areas include but are not limited to checking eligibility, answer inquiries from patients and clinic staff, handling referrals and authorizations. The Managed Care Representative will utilize expert problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems, taking all steps necessary to ensure full resolution of issues. The hours are 4 days 10 hour shift 7-530 pm 30 min lunch; Thursday day off or 5 days Monday through Friday 8-5pm. Remote option after successful 90 day with 1 day onsite. Primary Duties/Responsibilities : Determines eligibility for managed care patients including but not limited to HMO plans, Medicare - Medicaid Alignment Initiative plans and Medicaid of Illinois Integrated Care Program plans. Ensures authorizations for patient's managed care plan are obtained in accordance with payer's policy and required WEC services. Verify insurance. Register patient in EPIC. Enter referral information and scan into EPIC. Coordinate appointment. Handles all managed care-related patient inquiries, problems and concerns in accordance with clinic objectives and goals. Promptly follows up with payers on authorization requests to ensure charges go out in a timely manner for payment. Assists with authorizing procedures and laser workques Works with clinic providers and staff to ensure proper procedures are being met. Handles all other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
