Whelen Engineering company history timeline

1952

Founded in 1952 by George W. Whelen in his garage in Deep River, Connecticut, Whelen now encompasses two state-of-the-art facilities in Connecticut and New Hampshire with over 1,000,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

From a small garage workshop in Connecticut in 1952 to a worldwide leader in emergency warning equipment today, Whelen continues to push the boundaries of innovation.

1970

During the 1970’s the company continued product development, adding more aviation products and a broader line of automotive and railroad safety lighting devices.

1978

The first all strobe enclosed crossbar was introduced as the 6000 Series, replaced in 1978 by the 8000 Series.
