Contribute to, and lead, UX-specific initiatives in partnership with other designers and UX engineering. Build and help maintain components in our shared component library. Identify UI improvements and partner with UX engineering to bring them to fruition. Keep up with design best practices and make recommendations for evolving our visual design. Partner with go-to-market teams to bring critical customer- and prospect-facing assets to life, such as product prototypes, workflow diagrams, and marketing-friendly product mockups. Set a strong example for the rest of the design team in your design process. As an Industrial Designer at Pilgrim, you will work hands-on with our engineering team to design and develop ruggedized components, enclosures, and mission-critical hardware that operates at the intersection of biological and engineered systems. This is not an agency or studio role, you will build real products that must survive field conditions, integrate with sensors and electronics, and be manufacturable on CNCs, printers, and injection-molded pathways. You will own the visual and functional design of hardware from early concept through prototype iterations and production-intent models. The summer Design Intern will serve the Avient Design team during the summer of 2026 (start and end dates are flexible). Work will consist of assisting designers and engineers with client projects as well as internal initiatives that may be independently lead by the intern. Client projects are often focused on medical, transportation, industrial, or consumer markets. Previous intern-lead projects have included product tear downs and testing, generating material and industry specific case studies, designing product testing apparatuses, and tip-to-tail development of consumer products that specifically leverage Avient's specialty materials.
