1829

Completion of the Lehigh Canal in 1829 led to further development.

1839

In 1839, David Carroll, Horatio Gambrill, and their associates purchased the mill from Ellicott and converted it to a textile mill for weaving cotton duck, a tightly woven canvas used to make ship sails.

1850

By 1850, forty men and sixty-five women were working at Whitehall Mill with an output of 220,000 yards of cotton duck.

1854

Discovery of iron ore deposits brought Whitehall into the Industrial Revolution when the first blast iron furnace was built in Hokendauqua in 1854.

1867

In 1867 the current land area of Township of Whitehall was incorporated.

1868

After another fire in 1868, Clipper Mill was rebuilt at twice its size.

1899

The mill was sold in 1899 to the Mount Vernon-Woodberry Cotton Duck Company, a national conglomerate.

1900

Whitehall became classified as a First Class Township with a population of 7,935 in 1900.

1902

In 1902, the mill manufactured the cotton duck for Kaiser Wilhelm's yacht, which was christened by Alice Roosevelt as the Meteor III. In addition to ship sails, the mill manufactured other heavy canvas items such as mail bags for the United States government.

1925

In 1925, the mill was sold to Purity Paper Vessels, a firm that manufactured paper containers that could hold semi-liquid foods.

1941

In 1941, half the building was leased by the Army Quartermaster Office to be used as a warehouse for the Third Corps Area.

1946

Whitehall Manufacturing was founded in 1946 by Sal Zaita.

1974

In 1974, voters approved the adoption of a Home Rule Charter form of government, creating a seven-member legislative body and an elected Executive.

1976

In 1976, Acorn Engineering Company launched the Care-Ware product line.

1992

WhiteHall Products began operations as a marketer, designer and distributor of plastic packaging products in 1992.

Sekine maintained operations at the Whitehall mill location until 1992 when it was sold to Komar Industries.

In 1992, Whitehall introduced the Thermalator®line of moist heat therapy products.

2016

In 2016 Whitehall Rehab joined forces with CleatPRO® to better service the ever-expanding Sports market.
