What you will do:
Prepare sales & use tax forms and resolve outstanding tax issues for middle market and Fortune 500 clients and ensure they are in compliance with applicable state tax laws. This includes:

As an Intern in our Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:
* Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers
* Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines

What you will do:
Be a trusted member of the engagement team providing various federal tax compliance and consulting services to industry specific clients:
Provide tax compliance and advisory services to S-corporations, partnerships, individuals and corporations ranging from middle market to multinational companies
Participate in tax research projects on a variety of tax issues, help to draft IRS responses and address other tax authority inquiries
Team with leaders on special projects in various areas of corporate and flow through taxation such as accounting methods and ASC740
Develop recommendations for the client to consider and share with leadership to discuss and strategize
Communicate and team with specialty tax practices on complicated tax matters in the state and local, high net worth, international, research and development along with credits and incentives areas
Learn and grow from direct on the job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs
Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and with your clients
Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals

Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or law, or a related degree in business, and sufficient course work and credits to sit for the CPA and/or Bar exam in the state you are being considered
CPA or JD license preferred
Two (2)+ years of experience providing federal tax compliance and consulting services in a public accounting firm
Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving
Strong leadership, project management, organizational and analytical skills, initiative, adaptability
Microsoft Suite skills
Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills
Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred

Interviews for the 2027 Summer Tax Internship will take place in early 2026.
As an Intern in our Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:
* Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers
* Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines
* Learn and effectively utilize firm tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients
* Perform self-review of work
* Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors
* Develop strong relationships with firm professionals
* Participate in firm training and activities
* Work with your buddy and performance manager on professional development of both technical and soft skills.
To be successful, these are the skills, qualities and experience you will need:
* On track to completing a bachelor's degree in accounting or a master's degree in accounting or taxation between December 2027 - May 2028
* Available to work 40 hours a week from Mid-June through Mid-August
* Minimum overall and accounting GPAs of 3.0
* Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi or another campus accounting organization
* Strong technical aptitude and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
* Exhibit leadership skills that demonstrate strong judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
* Able to learn in a fast paced environment and receptive to feedback and coaching
* Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative on projects
* High attention to detail

As part of the HCVT Fort Worth team, you will work in a fast-paced environment, with a tax practice that is focused on serving clientele in the Alternative Investment Management industries. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Review federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and related income tax work papers
* Prepare complex client work and delegate entry level work to staff accountants
* Take ownership and organize workflow of client engagements, ensuring filing deadlines are met
* Supervise and manage expectations of engagement teams, staff accountants and/or interns on your teams
* Responsible for meeting engagement timelines and budget guidelines, and provide job status to partners, managers, and client personnel in a timely manner
* Identify tax issues and propose strategies to resolve them
* Effectively and efficiently research technical tax issues
* Respond to and prepare correspondence for state & federal tax authorities
* Develop strong relationships with firm professionals and clients
* Coach and provide feedback to junior team members
* Effectively utilize and train others on firm tax preparation software
* Participate in staff and senior level trainings
* Ensure high quality of work product
Key skills and experience we are seeking:
* Minimum two years of relevant tax experience
* Experience with taxation of "flow-through" entities is preferred, private equity experience a plus
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or related major required
* Passed all or some sections of the CPA exam strongly preferred
* Strong technical aptitude and communication skills
* Ability to work independently
* Proven experience in leading and supervising junior team members
