Job Description Security Officers are part of the public-facing team and are principally responsible for the safety and security of our visitors and staff. Security Officers contribute to the overall protection of art and aim to prevent any serious art incident. Security Officers provide security service in the lobby, in the galleries, at the staff entrance, in central and at our art storage facility. On occasion they may be asked to work in locations different from those listed. They assist with the management of visitors. This position interacts with visitors in a positive and welcoming manner, provides directions and information related to the Museum collection, public programs, as well as safeguarding visitors, staff, and the Museum's assets. Guards are responsible for communicating Museum policies regarding the safety of the collection and ensures staff and visitors adhere to established protocols to safeguard the collection from damage. Maintain security logs, including school attendance, visitor, and resident sign-in logs. Respond to crises using non-physical methods and follow Win protocols. Report actions taken during incidents verbally and in writing; complete incident reports. Develop knowledge of facility features and potential problems. Patrol the building and perimeter, check client units, and report observations. Recognize signs of substance abuse, child abuse, and criminal activity, report to appropriate staff. Monitor CCTV cameras and report activities violating safety protocols. Log observations and report unusual occurrences. Participate in investigations and maintain confidentiality. Attend program and house meetings, case conferences, and training sessions. Perform related duties as assigned. Essential Functions: Monitor CCTV cameras and report unusual activities. Ascend/descend stairs in an 8-story building. Maintain a standing position on post for at least 2 hours. Lift and use a fire extinguisher. Work all shifts, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications: Commitment to Win's mission, vision, and values. High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Fire Guard Certification F02. Valid NYS Security Guard License. 2-3 years of experience in social services or residential settings. Ability to make clear decisions and handle situations fairly. Effective interaction with facility staff and clients. Ability to work under pressure and during stressful situations. Willingness to be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to remain at post beyond scheduled hours if necessary.
