Whittier College company history timeline

1887

Whittier College, founded in 1887, was named for the Quaker abolitionist and poet John Greenleaf Whittier.

1893

The College began construction on its first building, Founders Hall, in 1893.

1901

Whittier College grew from the academy and was chartered by the State of California in 1901 with a student body of 25.

1912

Campus icon, the Rock, was installed by four senior pranksters in 1912.

2019

Haley has been writing for the Quaker Campus since 2019.

2021

Whittier College will be fully re-opening for in-person instruction and student activities during the Fall 2021 semester.
