On January 02, 1946 Alexander Wiegand and Philipp Kachel founded WIKA GmbH in Klingenberg.
The initial two letters of their surnames formed the company name WIKA. In 1951 Konrad Wiegand, the son of Alexander Wiegand, took over the management of the company.
1967 - WIKA Instrument, LP (WIKA) opened its United States facility in a 500 square-foot building in Long Island, NY. A few years later, WIKA moved to a newer and larger building in Hauppauge, NY to meet the demands of new product development and their expanding customer base.
For her exceptional achievements she received the state medal for outstanding service in 1984.
With the inauguration of the new WIKA head office in 1988, Klingenberg was confirmed as the headquarters of the family-run company.
In 1999, the construction of a new sensor centre was completed, which, with 13,000 square metres of production space, would be able to cope with the requirements of unlimited growth.
2001 – WIKA adopted LeanSigma® to identify and eliminate waste throughout its operation.
In the production areas, the first KAIZEN activities began in 2002.
2006 – WIKA announced creation of joint venture called RJ Global-WIKA, LLC to manufacture diaphragm seals for electronic instrumentation.
2010 – WIKA acquired 3D Instruments, the US market leader of direct drive pressure and test gauges.
2012 – WIKA acquired Gayesco, a global market leader in temperature measurement for furnace and reactor applications.
2013 – WIKA introduced its Full Audit Service Team (FAST), a team of engineers who audit instrumentation installations in plants to improve safety, productivity and profitability.
