In 1997, the company was reorganized as Wilbert Funeral Services, Inc. (WFSI). The Wilbert network of Licensees today numbers 192 and covers the United States and Canada - the largest network of burial vault manufacturers in North America.
No longer considered simply a business unit of the legendary Wilbert, Thermoform was among the top five industrial thermoform producers in North America for 1999, as ranked by Plastics News and sales for the year reportedly topped $55 million.
The two companies had begun merger talks early in 2000 which unraveled by May.
2001: Matthews International acquires the firm.
2002: Wilbert acquires several plastics firms for its Thermoform unit.
Until 2011 the executive and sales offices were headquartered on the site of the original American Vault Works, Inc. in Forest Park, Illinois.
