JOB DESCRIPTION:
General Statement of Duties: Transports participants, early childhood through older adults, in Willamalane and other community programs; may assist in leading the planned activities along with the trip leader, if accompanied by trip leader; may assist in the supervision of program participants; ensures safety of children who are participating in the program; does related work as required.
Distinguishing Features of the Class: An employee in this classification is responsible for safely transporting participants in Willamalane and other community programs. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, with occasional audits and observations scheduled to evaluate training needs. Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Recreation supervisor or program leader will provide information regarding schedule and site changes.

Provides safe transportation for Willamalane participants to a variety of locations within various programs, which includes assisting in the safe boarding and unloading of passengers.
Performs pre-trip safety inspection of vehicle.
Carries out work arrangements related to duties, times, and locations of trips as planned by Supervisor or Programmer, which includes dispensing fuel in vehicle and reporting any mechanical problems.
Operates Willamalane vehicle in a safe and defensive manner. Responsible for the safety of participants while trip is underway.
Conducts oneself in a pleasant and positive manner with participants and the public.
May assist in leading the planned activities of the trip along with the trip leader/escort; may assist in the supervision of program participants.
Attendance at Willamalane's Defensive Driving Training, vehicle orientation and other on-going trainings and meetings as required by the District.
Responsible for maintaining the interior condition of the vehicle on a daily basis.
Performs other job-related duties or tasks as required.

Experience And Training: Valid Oregon driver's license (Class C), and at least one year of driving experience.
Physical Demands of the Position: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and bend, often in conjunction with reaching for and manipulating objects. Manual dexterity and coordination are required during a majority of the work period while operating equipment such as commercial/school bus, vans and activity buses. Position requires intense concentration and good sensory perception, namely sight and hearing, especially in poor driving conditions. Employee may be exposed to especially cold or hot temperatures depending on the weather. Exposure to loud noise is moderate but never necessitates use of hearing protection. Employee may not have an impairment that prevents or severely interferes with safe driving. Optional Special Requirements: Oregon commercial driver's license (Class B Commercial or Class C Commercial, as appropriate for vehicle operated) with passenger endorsements.

General Statement of Duties: Provide instruction, leadership and supervision to participants in athletic programs. Lead skill workouts, practices and competitions in an organized structure; does related work as required.
Distinguishing Features of the Class: An employee in this classification is responsible for coaching and teaching youth and adults in athletic programs. Work is under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, who reviews work primarily based on results attained and on the accomplishment of outlined objectives and goals. Key Areas of Responsibility:
This position will represent the City in civil litigation, primarily tort and section 1983 actions. The City is self-insured and attorney would be responsible for defending the City in civil litigation cases and, as needed, working in partnership with outside legal counsel in defense of the City. Attorney would appear on behalf of the City, prepare and argue motions, respond to and conduct discovery, try cases and participate in appeals as time allows.
Provides expert legal services to risk managers about claims and settlement evaluations; represents the City and its employees in administrative hearings, litigation and appeals; and performs related duties as assigned.

General Statement Of Duties: Integrates training and judgment to make independent, responsible, professional decisions without direct supervision. Vigilantly monitors the safety of swimmers and guests as trained and assigned; initiates safety and guest-service responses as trained; interprets and implements swim center policies and safety guidelines; performs light custodial work; does related guest-services and operations work as required.
Distinguishing Features Of The Class: An employee in this classification is responsible for vigilantly observing swimmers, assessing and recognizing their abilities and needs, initiating actions to assist and serve swimmers and guests, and soliciting the general public's compliance with swim center policies and safety guidelines. Work is performed under the supervision of an Aquatics Supervisor who reviews work primarily on the basis of direct observation and information from coworkers and guests. Supervision is not normally a responsibility of positions in this classification.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERFORMED:

Vigilantly monitors the safety of swimmers and other guests using swim center facilities; constantly observes guests in assigned area.
Performs rescues and administers emergency care and assessment as trained and necessary. Initiates or participates in a coordinated, team approach to manage incidents.
Solicits swim center guest compliance with facility-use policies and procedures. Takes an active role to initiate and perform services for guests and coworkers.
Responds to questions from swim center guests regarding programs, activities, policies, and practices.
Performs light custodial maintenance duties such as hosing the deck, cleaning break room area, cleaning bathrooms, change rooms, and/or locker areas as assigned and necessary.
Handles pool covers and mat carts; removing and/or applying them back on the pool.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge: Possesses or obtains considerable knowledge of swimming pool and guest safety; life-guarding methods and practices, emergency care and assessment, and emergency procedures.
Skills: Life-guarding skills and methods, emergency care and assessment, CPR, AED, first aid, communicating professionally, and working with guests and staff team members.

Physical Demands of the Position: While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to stand, bend, swim, and lift and tow while in water; the employee is infrequently required to crouch and kneel. While on deck, the employee is expected to be standing, holding floatation device, and surveilling the pool at all times. The employee is occasionally required to lift and carry tables and chairs weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance. The employee is frequently required to help in the removal and application of pool mats, which requires the maneuvering of a 300-pound mat cart that is heavier when waterlogged, with proper safety tools. During emergencies and training simulations, the employee frequently must lift and tow persons of varying body weights (generally between 20 and 200 pounds) through the water and, with assistance, lift person onto the pool deck. Employee must be able to meet the American Red Cross pre-course requirements, which include, swimming 300 yards using freestyle or breaststroke; treading water for 2-minutes using only one's legs; and retrieving a 10lb. object from eight (8) feet of water. The duties of this position are performed inside the facility, thus exposure to weather extremes is not likely. Pool and pool area temperature remains around 82-88* F with humidity; however, during summer months the pool area may be warmer. Exposure to loud noise is high while on deck, and low to moderate in office and other areas. Persons with disabilities may be able to perform the essential duties of this class with reasonable accommodation. Minimum Experience and Training: American Red Cross Lifeguard training.
Preferred Experience And Training: American Red Cross Lifeguard training with Waterpark learning module and experience as a Lifeguard.
Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification including CPR/AED certifications and Bloodborne pathogen training within two months of hire. Inability to acquire American Red Cross Lifeguard certification will result in termination from this position. Because this job is considered safety sensitive, a drug screen test will be required prior to employment. Candidates who need Lifeguard certification will be scheduled into a Lifeguard training with Willamalane at no cost.

General Statement of Duties: Demonstrates and instructs dance classes; does related work as required.

Instructors work closely with Recreation Coordinator on planning, development, class evaluation and implementation. Supervision is not a responsibility of position in this classification.

Plan, organize and instruct dance technique, composition, and choreography related to dance style with appropriate combinations and/or routines; includes but not limited to ballet, modern, jazz, folk, tap or hip hop; provides and prepares appropriate music for format.
Provides class instruction and demonstrates knowledge, skill and ability in specific dance composition(s).
Develops dance class(es) with appropriate combinations, sequences, and/or curriculum; selects and prepares appropriate supplies or equipment for class(es), where appropriate.
Design and implement dance class curriculum which includes warm-up, combination/ routine review, and cool-down.
Collaborates with Coordinator/Supervisor staff to develop, plan and schedule classes.

Provides excellent internal and external customer service. Offers a positive experience for patrons and co-workers.
Distributes program evaluations to participants. Maintains confidentiality and respects patron privacy during evaluation process. Submits evaluations to supervisors and remains open to constructive feedback. Reviews feedback and utilizes information to enhance program.
Ensures all participants are signed in and maintain appropriate records regarding class participation. Set up and maintain computer and scanning station prior to class as required.
Prepares facility for class including equipment, lights, fans, water station and sound equipment. Cleans up area and returns all equipment to appropriate storage area at end of work shift.
Communicate with staff regarding facility, equipment and supply needs. Request purchase of supplies, coordinating expenditures with District policies.
