About the Role:
The Food Scientist supports the Value Engineering team by leading the design, planning, validation, and implementation of cost savings, efficiency improvements, and consolidation projects across the TreeHouse Foods portfolio. Working under limited supervision, this role applies sound scientific methods from bench development through commercialization, ensuring project objectives are met while maintaining product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

About the Role:
TreeHouse Foods is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the development, validation, and implementation of new packaging technologies, line extensions, and packaging improvements that support product performance, cost optimization, quality, and sustainability objectives. Acting as the technical lead, this role provides advanced problem-solving, drives complex project execution, and delivers packaging solutions that meet business and operational requirements.
You'll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
Leading moderate to highly complex technical assignments supporting cost savings, quality improvements, operational support, and new product development
Serving as the technical lead for cross-functional project teams, including manufacturing start-ups and ongoing technical service
Developing technical approaches and solutions aligned to product and business requirements
Designing, executing, and analyzing packaging test plans, trials, and validation activities
Managing end-to-end delivery of packaging projects including specifications, testing requirements, control points, execution, and post-launch support
Identifying and resolving technical conflicts, risks, and resource needs to ensure project success
Developing external networks through supplier engagement and participation in technical organizations (e.g., IoPP, SPC)
Identifying opportunities that drive value through innovation, productivity, sustainability, and performance improvement
Ensuring all activities comply with safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Important Details:
The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $82,600 to $123,800 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.

Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Engineering, or related technical field
5+ years of relevant packaging engineering experience
Demonstrated ability to influence project direction through advanced technical expertise
Proven project management, negotiation, and technical problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate with R&D, Operations, suppliers, and external partners
Strong understanding of paperboard, corrugate, film, plastics, and glass packaging materials
Experience with TOPS/CAPE or similar optimization tools

SUMMARY: The CNC Cutter Grinder is responsible for performing precision smoothing, sharpening, polishing, or grinding of cutting tools (drills, reamers, end mills, slab mills, slotting cutters in HSS and solid carbide). Make or modify cutting tools from blue prints or written instruction. Modify tool holders, boring bars.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for promoting culture of safety
Set up and operate any and all departmental equipment, to recondition standard tooling and/or make/modify special tools
Set up and operate grinding machines to grind industrial cutting tools
Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
Inspect, feel, and measure work pieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts.
Dress grinding wheels, according to specifications.
Monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are necessary; stop machines when problems occur.
Remove and replace worn or broken machine parts, using hand tools.
File or finish surfaces of work pieces, using prescribed hand tools.
Turn valves to direct flow of coolant against cutting wheels and work pieces during grinding.
Compute numbers, widths, and angles of cutting tools, micrometers, scales, and gauges, and adjust tools to produce specified cuts.
Inspect cutting tools to detect defects, assess wear, and verify specifications, using micrometers, and loupes.
Attach work pieces to grinding machines
Program CNC Machines
Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors, problems or defects
Keep workspace clean and organized
QUALIFICATIONS:
Fully competent with reading blue prints
Use of inspection equipment (precise measuring tools)
Follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to troubleshoot Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
Repairing - Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Log in and out of set-up and operation (time management)
Ability to think creatively, make decisions, and solve problems
Able to communicate and cooperate with supervisors and peers
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Some college or trade school preferred
0-2 years of experience required in the field or in a related field
2-4 years of experience preferred
CNC programs, manual tool/cutter grinding experience or machine operator experience preferred.
