This role is essential in ensuring that only the finest wines are produced and marketed, thereby significantly impacting the reputation and success of the wine-producing establishments.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct sensory evaluation of wines to identify key attributes.
Provide detailed descriptions of wine characteristics including aroma, taste, and mouthfeel.
Evaluate the quality and consistency of wines through blind tasting and analysis.
Work closely with winemakers to provide feedback and recommendations for improving wine quality.
Participate in tasting panels and discussions to assess and compare different wine varieties.
Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging wine styles.
Document and maintain records of wine evaluations and assessment results.
Contribute to the development and refinement of wine profiles and standards.
Utilize sensory analysis techniques to detect faults or deviations in wine quality.
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to communicate the unique characteristics of wines.
Represent the winery at public tastings, events, and competitions.
Adhere to ethical and professional standards in wine evaluation and critique.
Provide training and guidance to aspiring wine tasters and enthusiasts.
Participate in wine judging competitions and awards.
Contribute to the development of new wine blends and products.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Enology, Viticulture, Food Science, or related field.
Proven experience in wine tasting and evaluation, preferably in a professional capacity.
Formal training in sensory analysis and wine tasting techniques.
Certification from recognized wine education programs such as WSET or Court of Master Sommeliers.
Extensive knowledge of grape varieties, winemaking processes, and regional wine characteristics.
Exceptional sensory perception and ability to discern subtle aromas and flavors.
Strong communication skills to articulate detailed wine descriptions and evaluations.
Ability to make precise and consistent assessments of wine quality and characteristics.
Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tastings and evaluations.
Proficiency in sensory evaluation software and tools.
Demonstrated passion for wine and dedication to continuous learning and improvement.
Strong ethical standards and professional conduct in wine assessment and critique.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

The perfect candidate will be a team player who wears multiple hats and is looking to be a part of an exciting industry, while learning the skills of a world class Cellar Hand.
Essential functions

Carry out all cellar activities assigned by the winemaking team
Clean and sanitize winery equipment and hoses
Clean and sanitize harvest equipment
Assist in crush pad operations
Perform filling, racking and cleaning barrels
Make additions to fermenters, tanks and barrels
Help maintain empty barrels
Perform pump-overs and punch-downs
Perform barrel topping and stirring
Help track fermentation's (brix, and temperatures)
Assist in laboratory tasks when needed
Follow all procedures and protocols, including safety procedures
Ask questions if procedures are not clear
Immediately report any errors or out-of-the-ordinary circumstances in the cellar to the Winemaker, Assistant Winemaker or Cellar Master
Maintain a clean and organized cellar
Curiosity and passion for wine
