The Medical Advocate (MA) position involves working with survivors of domestic violence. The MA duties include medical advocacy, supportive services, and case management to individuals, who are screened through the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) assessment tool. WINGS Program, Inc. promotes self-reliance through an empathic and caring atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assess each patient's strengths and needs upon entry to the pilot TBI program. Identify the level of care for medical/dental, social, education, and required support.
· Provides direct patient services in the form of bedsides, crisis intervention, emotional support, and conflict resolution in accordance with the TBI response toolkit.
· Provide direct services to clients with TBI diagnosis including but not limited to case management and comprehensive support.
· Develop, monitor, and revise service plans which include goals and objectives identified by client.
· Assist clients in application and follow up of mainstream benefits, location of sustainable long- term housing, and provide referrals/.resources.
· Attend Agency and Hospital administrative meetings and collaborate with internal and external staff and community partners.
· Immediately report child abuse to the Department of Children and Family Services as mandated by law and in accordance with agency procedures.
· Adhere to policy and procedures related to IPV-Induced TBI assessment/best practice.
· Provide services in accordance with the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals code of ethics.
· Respond to security concerns appropriately, documenting observations and actions taken.
· Complete and maintain case notes, and document service statistics.
· Ensure administrative responsibilities and reporting are completed in accordance with agency policy.
· Request donations and acquire items needed for clients.
· Attend community resource meetings and act as liaison to create resource manual.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in social service, a closely related field, or equivalent job experience required.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in social services, case management, and informal counseling required.
· 40 hour domestic violence training and CPR & First Aid Certification preferred.
· Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP) Certification preferred.
· Spanish Bilingual preferred.

· Strong working knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office Suite along with excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.

Requirements:
