Winkler company history timeline

1914

In 1914, Christian Winkler, the oldest son of Ludwig, entered the business as an apprentice.

1918

But the end of the First World War in 1918 also marked the end of the king's reign, and Christian Winkler lost his position as Royal Court Blacksmith of Wuerttemberg.

1923

But in 1923, when the Marstall was taken over by the palace garden association called Schloßgartenbau AG and turned into stores, Christian Winkler and his sons had to leave the court for good.

1933

Winkler would see one of its worst tornadoes on May 23, 1933 when the tornado struck west of the community and moved along the outskirts of the town.

1939

In 1939, Winkler expanded the company by constructing a large production hall.

1948

Work started on rebuilding the company with the currency reform of 1948 and the company improved rapidly thanks to the Marshall Plan, an economic development program of the USA to rebuild the European states.

1949

But in 1949, a stroke of fate struck the company and the family: founder, pioneer and head of the family Christian Winkler died at the age of eighty.

1954

Following the war, the population once again started to rebound and on April 7, 1954, the village became a town.

1960

Many Winkler's attending the school until 1960 when the doors closed and the last class graduated.

By 1960, a stately new building was constructed here, containing a welding shop, a lathing shop, a warehouse, assembly shops and offices.

1961

One of the most devastating fires to hit the community of Winkler came in March of 1961 when a fire destroyed a large portion of the community’s main businesses.

1963

For winkler, 1963 was the birth of the wholesale business in commercial vehicle parts.

1966

One of the worst floods to hit the Winkler area would occur in March of 1966 when flood waters quickly rose, leading to the evacuation of several residents.

1975

By 1975, a new home was built in Ludwigsburg-Tamm to accommodate the frame straightening shop in Weilimdorf and parts of the technical operations in Stuttgart's street of Wolframstrasse.

1994

By opening the Härkingen plant in Switzerland, the first foreign location was established in 1994, and the export company winkler Truck and Trailer Parts at the headquarters in Stuttgart laid the foundation for international trade.

2004

In 2004, Hans Winkler handed over responsibility for the company to the new Chairman of the Management Board, Rüdiger Hahn, but stayed on with him as a consultant.

2019

2020

Goods are shipped to customers from three of Europe's largest central warehouses for commercial vehicle parts, with over 200,000 spare parts. As a result of this magnitude, the company counted over 1,600 employees in 2020 and generated sales of 440 million euros.
