This position is classified as a Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist 1 under the State of Washington Class Specification. This position is temporary part-time not to exceed 1,050 hours in a consecutive 12-month period. This position is limited to 75 hours or less per month, typically 19 hours per week.

The Opportunity (Part-time):
We need your nursing skills to take charge of emergency medical situations and act as a liaison between the community and residents providing professional nursing services for youth committed by the courts to a secure juvenile rehabilitation institution. As an important member of the Health Center Team, you will treat residents according to physician orders, nd encourage resident accountability using the integrated treatment plan.
Some of what you'll do:
* Provide professional nursing services including, but not limited to direct patient care such as assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and interventions relating to medical and/or psychiatric conditions.
* Perform initial medical screening for youth at intake; implement infection control, Vaccine for Children VFC, and employee health and wellness programs.
* Educate and counsel youth, families, and staff regarding medical and mental health care.
* Provide medical case management for youth with chronic or acute conditions; communicate with and instruct non-medical agency staff on treatment and care of youth.
* Prepare and file medical documents; schedule appointments; perform basic data entry and retrieval functions using an electronic management information system.
* Recognize and report risk indicators by residents such as self-harm threats, medication refusal or misuse.
* Administer prescribed medications per the physician's treatment orders.
* Provide first aid and first response emergency medical services for youth, visitors, and other employees.
