Wireless engineer job description

We currently have a need for a Senior Wireless Engineer to support Global Network environments. The Engineer will be directly responsible for the design, maintenance, and support of organization's enterprise-wide LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. The candidate will work as part of a team of network engineers designing and deploying Cisco WLAN infrastructure. Global Financial Services, Healthcare or Pharmaceutical experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:

Ability to architect, design, and implement wireless solutions for Enterprise Accounts.
Design networks with Cisco high capacity WLAN controllers and over thousands of AP over multiple (local) locations.
Determine switch, router, and wireless hardware requirements and configurations, and develop, execute, and track purchase orders for required equipment.
Develop device configuration files from scratch and make modifications to existing configuration files in production switch, router, and WLAN systems. Will also be required to configure L2/L3 switch and router based QOS in LAN and WLAN devices.
Design, implement, and support WLANs by performing and documenting 802.11 wireless surveys.
Experience using Air Magnet Survey and Spectrum Analyzer, analyzing collected RF data to determine cell boundaries, AP power settings, and noise and interference sources is preferred, but not required. Will determine AP placements and deploy APs, and perform post-implementation surveys in order to optimize WLAN performance.
Diagnose difficult network performance problems and interact with application support teams to diagnose network or application performance issues. Must know how to quickly trouble-shoot network issues related to asymmetry.

Skills required:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline required.
7+ years designing and implementing Wireless networking solutions with Cisco and Aruba hardware
Experience with Cisco 9800, 8500 and 5500 WLC's.
Experience using Cisco Prime and Mobility Search Engine (MSE)
Familiarity with Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) tracking
Experience designing and deploying Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) for secure network access.
Knowledge of Cisco IOS/CatOS configuration and troubleshooting across multiple platforms.
Knowledge of 802.11a/g/n/ac/ax, Cisco WLC, WCS, CAPWAP, LWAP; be able to use tools such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure, AirMagnet Spectrum, Ekahau, WiFi, and Survey, to design and support WLANS.
Knowledge of L2/L3 and wireless security features including access-lists, VACLS, firewalls, WPA, TKIP, CCKM, LEAP, etc.
Hands-on experience and well versed in utilizing networking tools and applications, such as Cisco Works, Solarwinds, CA, Infinistream, Sniffer, Airmagnet Suite, and TACACS.
Active Certifications CWNA, CWNP, CCNA Wireless, CCNP Wireless, CCIE Wireless; are preferred, but NOT required. Ekahau and/or AirMagnet Professional Certifications a plus.

Job Description:

Engineer, Technology Introduction
The Wireless RAN Technology Introduction team is responsible for working with Wireless customers to develop product verification strategies and deploy new Wireless 4G/5G RAN solutions in Operator labs, field trials, commercial trials, qualification and First Field/Office Applications (FFA/FOA) in commercial networks.

They are responsible for end-to-end support, deployment, and operational activities for the Wireless 4G/5G RAN solutions.
We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful individual to provide high quality customer support in the North American market to large Tier-1 Operators.
The ideal candidate must be a technical specialist with a minimum of 2 years interoperability testing (IOT) of ERAN and UE devices, deployment, troubleshooting and support skills on end-to-end LTE mobile networks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides direct deployment, integration and problem resolution support to local customer and installation resources.
Interface with customer laboratories as the primary escalation point of contact for all validation, verification, and technical support requests.
Collaborate with technical leads of customers to drive solution requirements for laboratory trials, early market trials, and First Field/Office Applications (FFA/FOA) in commercial networks.
Defining requirements for the installation of Wireless 4G/5G RAN equipment in operators laboratories and commercial networks.
Develop solution verification test plans to be executed at operators facilities, executing verification plans with operators and reporting results to stakeholders.
Execute the verification plan with the operator and report results to all stakeholders on a periodic basis.
Work with support and engineering to resolve issues identified during solution verification.
Obtain acceptance of the solution from the Operator in accordance with the customers milestones.
Writing and validating customer Method of Procedures (MOPs) for all new Wireless 4G/5G RAN hardware and software being integrated into customer networks.
Provides technical leadership, knowledge transfer and demonstrations to customer operations teams and partners.

Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors in engineering (any discipline).
2+ years of experience performing interoperability testing (IOT) of ERAN and UE devices in mobile infrastructure technology deployments including systems architecture, troubleshooting and network operations.
2+ years of experience performing IP network connectivity troubleshooting, documenting test plans and reports, and performing end-to-end LTE troubleshooting.
Experience testing and optimizing wireless solutions.
Experience with mobile voice and packet data integration, RF engineering, IP networks and system performance.
Detailed knowledge of common telecommunication protocols such as SIP, TR069, SSL/TLS, LDAP, Radius, SOAP/XML.
Detailed knowledge of IP Protocols including IPv4, IPv6, IPSEC0, routing protocols and network protocols.
Familiarity of 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards and best practices.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to travel up to 50%. Travel will vary based upon lab activities

Wireless Technical Engineer Needed!

As a Wireless Technical Engineer, you will work on multiple simultaneous projects to implement new technologies and configurations in conjunction with other Enterprise Digital Infrastructure Services (EDIS) Groups. You will serve as technical consultant on divisional network projects as well as lead and subject expert for certain technologies/services within the group as assigned.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Providing expertise in acquisition and divestiture projects in connection with specific wireless designs and implementations Service Transition.
• Participates in the Enterprise Digital Infrastructure Services (EDIS) Release Management Process for New Services and ongoing Service Feature releases to include, but not limited to:

• Working with Service Design on the initial service concept ensuring a handover to Service Transition,
• Working in a cross-functional team to develop the service and required deliverables,
• Working with Service Delivery/Operations to train and handover the service such that it can be delivered and supported consistently.

  • Participates in and applies the same Process for subsequent service releases as defined by the Service Roadmap.
  • Acts an interface between Service Design and Service Delivery/Operations Fourth Level Support.
