Wiring technician job description

We're adding new people to our manufacturing team in St. Louis! Seeking great hands-on skilled people from an automation or electrical background to join us at Emerson Automation Solutions. Based in our St. Louis location, you will be part of our North America Integration Center Team manufacturing systems that drive our customers' factories, and the control equipment buildings that house them.
AS A WIRE TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL:
• Wire, layout, and do any cutouts on inner pans and control panels
• Perform wiring inside of control houses or on equipment after being installed on process modules, and install components, process piping, and instrumentation
• Cut, strip, and terminate wires per acceptable industry standards
• Bend, thread, and install conduit
• Cut, ream, bend, and install tubing
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Must be able to read and interpret layout drawings and wiring schematics, and read and interpret point-to-point wiring
• Must be able to recognize electrical symbols and be familiar with NEC
• Must have strong mechanical aptitude and be familiar with basic hand and power tools
• Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and withstand noise, heat/cold extremes
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Ability to excel in a team environment
• Ability to pass forklift driver test upon request

Technicians will perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. Exclude technicians working in production or quality assurance.

+ High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks and 3 Years of experience.
+ Experience with test instrumentation (accelerometers, thermocouples, and strain gauges).

+ IPC 620/610 Cable Harness-Soldering

+ Basic knowledge of test equipment (DITMO, O-scope, etc.

+ Prior experience/certifications in industries specific to the job description

Must Have Skills: Must have the following

+ An active IPC 620A/610 certification and 2 years experience

+ An inactive IPC 620A/610 Certification that has lapsed no more than 5 years ago and 2 year experience

+ No IPC 620A/610 certification but has more than 5 years wire harness experience

• Contract 12 mos. - potential for extended term
• Work schedule will be 4/10 and Shifts will be 6am-4:30pm (Thur-Sun). Once fully trained schedule may change to 4pm to 2:30am Mon –Thur or Thur – Sun.

Summary:

• Experience with test instrumentation (accelerometers, thermocouples, and strain gauges).
• Experience with Cable Harness-Soldering
• IPC 620/Cable Harness-Soldering
• Basic knowledge of test equipment (DITMO, O-scope, etc.
• Prior experience/certifications in industries specific to the job description
• Wire harness Print Reading – 4-6 years
• Work schedule will be 4/10 and Shifts will be 6am-4:30pm (Thur-Sun). Once fully trained schedule may change to 4pm to 2:30am Mon –Thur or Thur – Sun.

Candidate must either have the following to be considered for interview:
>An active IPC 620A certification and 5 years experience
>An inactive IPC 620A Certification that has lapsed no more than 5 years ago and 5 year experience
> No IPC 620A certification but has more than 7 years wire harness experience
