WITTENSTEIN company history timeline

1949

She emigrated to the United States in 1949; first to New York, and then to Baltimore, where she worked in a factory.

1992

First presented in 1992, the annual Cheney award honors community champions who embody dedication to Central Florida’s heritage and to civic engagement.

1996

Provenance The Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project conducted the interview with George Wittenstein on November 23, 1996.

2000

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the tapes of the interview from the Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project in December 2000.

With deep roots in Orange County, the History Center opened in 2000 and is operated by Orange County and the nonprofit Historical Society of Central Florida, Inc.

2004

Start of local gearbox assembly at WITTENSTEIN’s Chinese subsidiary in Hangzhou, established in 2004

2007

The success of these endeavours can be judged by the fact SAFERTOS was independently certified on the first iteration by TÜV SÜD back in 2007.

2008

Wittenstein, who died in 2008 at the age of 94, was the leader of a major public accounting firm whose longtime community service included membership on the board of the Orange County Historical Society (now the Historical Society of Central Florida).

2010

Production start in the Fall of 2010

2012

Founding of Brazilian subsidiary WITTENSTEIN do Brasil Engenharia Mecanica LTDA Manfred Wittenstein represents Germany at the international "2012 World Entrepreneur of the Year" competition.

2013

With the Future Urban Production site, WITTENSTEIN bastian GmbH was a national winner for the Economy category in the "2013/14 Excellent Places in the Land of Ideas" innovation competition.

2017

In 2017 Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced stewardship of FreeRTOS, introducing Amazon FreeRTOS, part of the AWS Edge to Cloud IoT offering.

2018

The Hannover Messe 2018 centers around the Galaxie®, which has achieved scientific acclaim as an independent gearbox generation: the exhibit includes new sizes and a brand new design.

2019

In March 2019 WHIS and BlackBerry QNX formed a partnership to offer an embedded software platform solution.

Doctor Bertram Hoffmann takes over as Chairman of the Board and CEO of the WITTENSTEIN Group on April 1, 2019.

2020

The two subsidiaries WITTENSTEIN motion control GmbH and WITTENSTEIN aerospace & simulation GmbH are legally merged, also with effect from April 1, 2020.

On November 4, 2020, attocube systems AG and neaspec GmbH join forces under the name attocube systems AG, with three Strategic Business Divisions for nano positioning, cryogenic nanoscopy and nano spectroscopy.

2022

Steffen Schwerd is appointed Chief Sales Officer (CSO) of WITTENSTEIN SE as of April 1, 2022.

Professor Khaled Karraï, founder of attocube systems AG and its present Scientific Director, is honored with the highest WI:SIONA award – the “Bust” – on May 12, 2022.

The baramundi software AG Software Factory is officially opened on June 2, 2022 in Augsburg
