About the Role
The Energy Markets Analyst plays a key role in helping shape the future of renewable energy markets. You'll build expertise at the intersection of energy, finance, and sustainability by analyzing trends, modeling transactions, and uncovering insights that guide major decisions across the clean energy ecosystem.
This position is ideal for early career professionals eager to grow in renewable energy analytics. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced colleagues across the Analytics and Commercial teams, evaluate renewable energy contracts, assess market trends, and provide financial and market insights that drive internal and client decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Financial Modeling & Analysis
Develop, maintain, and audit Excel-based financial models for renewable energy Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and storage contracts
Conduct sensitivity analyses to evaluate contract economics under varying market conditions and understand risks
Market Research & Data Analytics
Monitor and summarize wholesale electricity and energy market trends and policy developments
Collect and analyze large datasets from public and proprietary sources to support internal and client deliverables
Prepare and visualize financial and other metrics to communicate insights effectively
Reporting & Communication
Support preparation of internal and client-facing reports, presentations, and dashboards
Summarize findings from market and financial analyses in concise written formats
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a related field
Coursework, internship, or student group experience related to renewable energy and/or energy markets
2-4 years of professional experience in the energy industry or a role that requires complex financial modeling and production of related deliverables
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; advanced Excel proficiency
Familiarity with financial concepts such as NPV, IRR, WACC, and cash flow
Basic understanding of power markets and renewable energy fundamentals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex financial, contractual and market concepts for customers
High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple ad-hoc and recurring tasks simultaneously
Preferred Experience
Experience with SQL, Tableau, Python and/or Omni.
Experience working at an Independent Power Producer (IPP), energy market advisor, utility, Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) or any other organization involved in the power and renewable energy sectors

This position is based out of our office in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, WA (hybrid work schedule).
The estimated compensation for this position per year, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus and an equity grant.

Identify and analyze opportunities for business expansion and revenue growth within the organization. Key Accountabilities
* Conducts market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscapes, customer behavior, and technological advancements impacting the organization.
* Analyzes data from various sources to pinpoint potential areas for business expansion, including new markets, untapped customer segments, and emerging technologies.
* Craft strategies to capitalize on identified opportunities, aligning them with the company's overall vision and goals.
* Assists with development of financial models and scenario analyses to assess the viability of strategic initiatives and forecast business performance.
* Evaluates potential risks associated with business decisions and recommending mitigation strategies.
* Collaborates with various departments, such as regulatory affairs, marketing, sales, finance, and operations, to gather insights, align on objectives, and ensure the effective execution and alignment of strategies.
* Prepares detailed presentations and reports to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Education and experience requirements must be satisfied through one of the following options:
* Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, business, data analysis, or strategic planning. OR
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Project Management with 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, business, data analysis, or strategic planning.
Other Qualifications
Preferred
* Knowledge of the electrical industry, including power systems, renewable energy, and emerging technologies. Advanced degrees or certifications in specialized areas can be beneficial.
* Experience developing executive presentations, including the use of Think-Cell.
* Experience with capital project budgeting and forecasting.
* Proficiency in Excel, including the use of complex formulas.

Responsibilities:
Monitor real-time data from Solar and Energy Storage sites to identify anomalies, trends, and performance deviations.
Ability to technically troubleshoot commercial solar PV and BESS systems remotely
Analyze system performance metrics to ensure optimal efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Ability to handle complex and critical issues in a timely manner.
Collaborate with technical teams to diagnose system issues and propose corrective actions.
The ability to remotely diagnose, troubleshoot, and reset equipment.

The FERC Certificates Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing and coordinating company data for preparation and compilation of reports and filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Job Description
Under the general direction of the Manager, the
Market Validation and Quality Analyst (internal title)
works on complex mathematical and market analytical assignments. Provides technical expertise to other departments and external entities related to price validation, electricity market applications, and power systems operations. Supports the department to ensure software business rules comply with the ISO Tariff and FERC requirements.

What You Will Be Doing
Performs mathematical and economics analysis of market software and power systems applications results to determine validity of prices and congestion, and optimality of solutions with respect to the market model, incurred cost and impact on reliability of the power system grid.
Supports the validation and testing of market outcomes to address market participant's disputes or inquiries, assists in the evaluation of problems and their alternative courses of action.
Performs duties needed to supplement the design of market operations software, processes, and policies, provides technical expertise related to cost optimization technologies, market clearing economic principles, transmission system, resource operating characteristics, and price analysis.
Assists in identifying and resolving implementation, design and integration-related problems or potential problems within assigned areas, and may propose solutions to such issues. Demonstrates an understanding of policy issues and related matters.
May participate in market design and development efforts to identify new measures necessary to validate market results and leverage opportunity for incorporating features that will improve market solution quality. May develop business procedures and methods as needed.
Supports our Grid Operations Control Room with analysis and validation in a remote and in-person capacity.

Structured Pricing Analyst

Working in a fast-paced team environment, the Structured Pricing Analyst will be a part of the Structuring & DER Team and primarily support Commercial and Industrial (“C&I”) Sales along with other internal business partners. This role will be responsible for the risk analysis of current and prospective customers by quantifying and monitoring risk across wholesale price, volume, and shape risks in line with the company's risk tolerance. The position will act as a champion of information and provide C&I Sales and other business partners with optimal customer service, transparency, and communication.
The successful candidate will possess an analytical background to structure and price energy contracts, a strong attention to detail in assessing risk, and the ability to collaborate and communicate well with others.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and price structured energy products for complex customer deals.
Review sales requests regarding customer specific data, demand normalization errors, historical monthly usage, interval data, pricing concerns, and general market questions from C&I Sales.
Evaluate risk on prospective deals by reviewing customer pricing data points and statistical factors to ensure the deals align with IGS' risk tolerance and portfolio strategy.
Provide analytical support for projects while delivering completed tasks on time, coordinating effectively with stakeholders, and communicating on project deliverables.
Develop and maintain robust relationships between the Structuring & DER Team and C&I Sales by providing exceptional service in a collaborative environment.

The FERC Certificates Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing and coordinating company data for preparation and compilation of reports and filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The ability to translate and communicate obscure regulatory requirements to internal, cross-discipline groups and work in a team environment are keys to success in this role!

Responsibilities/Expectations:
Approves FERC citations for all capital projects
Submits accurate and timely certificate filings with the FERC
Prepares, coordinates, and submits blanket and 2.55(b) reports
Ensures compliance with FERC regulations
Follows industry events, new regulations, and other pipeline's filings to understand and quantify the impact to projects
Supports the development of rate case positions on significant issues
Analyzes new FERC pronouncements, identified potential effects on the company, devises and implements efficient solutions for compliance
Prepares and files tariff changes to meet the business needs of company partners
Runs and maintains an electronic Tariff and the Informational Postings website
Assists in the development of responses to FERC and customer data requests
Collaborates with company partners to gather and review data for FERC certificate filings and reports and ensure they are consistent with business strategies and practices
Supports commercial and business development teams to evaluate new opportunities/services
Provides input into legal pleadings
Monitors FERC regulations, requirements, and industry trends pertaining to filings and compliance
Maintains current knowledge of the regulatory process and requirements
Mentors others

Education/Years of Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field and a minimum of four (4) years' interstate pipeline work experience
Preferred: Direct experience in interstate regulatory area
Other Requirements:
Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
Knowledge of FERC process and requirements
Preferred: Experience interpreting and modifying tariff language and commercial contracts

Working in a fast-paced team environment, the Structured Pricing Analyst will be a part of the Structuring & DER Team and primarily support Commercial and Industrial (“C&I”) Sales along with other internal business partners. Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and price structured energy products for complex customer deals.
Review sales requests regarding customer specific data, demand normalization errors, historical monthly usage, interval data, pricing concerns, and general market questions from C&I Sales.
Evaluate risk on prospective deals by reviewing customer pricing data points and statistical factors to ensure the deals align with IGS' risk tolerance and portfolio strategy.
Provide analytical support for projects while delivering completed tasks on time, coordinating effectively with stakeholders, and communicating on project deliverables.

Required Skills:
Experience in Power Market Pricing & Analysis, Risk Analysis, and/or Sales Support is preferred but not required.
Strong analytical skills in quantitative data analysis to mitigate and evaluate risk exposure.
Proficiency in Excel is required, and a working knowledge of SQL and database structures is preferred.
Ability to successfully execute multiple complex tasks and/or independently problem solve.
Can review a problem and make suggestions on how best to address and mitigate the issue.
Strong interest to learn and understand regulatory frameworks, geopolitical factors and commodity price dynamics within the energy market.
Proven ability to work on a collaborative and dynamic team, with a focus on strong communication skills.
