Description & Responsibilities Working within the Women Against Abuse's (WAA) residential shelters and in coordination across various departments, Client Support Staff (CSS) establish, lead and nurture a welcoming, safe supportive trauma informed community environment for residents and their children, offering support, a space to relax and an opportunity to talk to residents along with providing informal support/resolving issues through listening, sharing, and identifying options.
Providing tours and off-hour activities to clients based on interests and needs (movie/game night, holiday parties or events, etc.). Assisting new residents settling in and helping them with immediate needs (providing hygiene, basic living supplies, etc.) while maintaining the related inventory.

The DV Hotline & Intake Services Manager supervises our Hotline & Intake staff at Women Against Abuse (WAA) (24/7 department) providing high quality and trauma informed client services that include safety planning, resources and referrals, safe haven intake, maintaining client records, all in accordance with our Agency standards.
In addition, they will serve as a liaison managing a coordinated effort between WAA, the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline Collaborative (PDVH), the Philadelphia Office of Domestic Violence Strategies (ODVS), local hospital emergency rooms, Health & Human Service providers and other local & government agencies including the FBI's Human Trafficking division providing technical assistance and providing/recommending training needs.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Regularly reviewing data & reporting, addressing and adjusting as needed.
Working with WAA Agency staff and PDVH to create on-going trainings & related materials.
Supporting the Evaluation & Learning Team on the quarterly ODVS reporting review and finalization.

Assisting clients and other staff in establishing and maintaining a safe and supportive community environment.

The Maintenance Assistant role carries out general/preventive Maintenance and Housekeeping responsibilities within our Residential Safe Havens and Transitional Housing Program. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish a variety of Preventative maintenance, janitorial and work order requests/tasks to keep the facilities, common areas, grounds and un/occupied rooms or apartments in excellent operating condition. These include but are not limited to:
Plumbing (Snaking kitchen and bathroom drains, minor toilet repairs i.e. unclogging toilets/sinks, changing/replacing flappers or handles, installing washers, etc.)
Painting (spackling, drywall patchwork, light painting)
Electrical (installing/changing switch plates, light fixtures, florescent light bulbs etc.)
Upkeep of grounds (Heavy trash removal /shoveling sidewalks and pathways, etc.)
Janitorial (dusting, spot cleaning, deep cleaning/sanitizing community areas, office spaces, bathrooms, laundry spaces, and Children's Team space)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
PROGRAM COORDINATION:
Develop and maintain a wide range of knowledge related to domestic violence and homeless issues.
Continually evaluate the practices and procedures of the Outreach program to provide recommendations on quality and efficiency improvements.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION:
Provide general domestic violence information and referrals to DVSC callers. Follow up on the referral list on a regular basis to ensure that information is current.
Serve as a DVSC representative and liaison to community groups to ensure the provision of information and education about domestic violence and DVSC services to the community.
SUPERVISION:
Assist in the hiring of new staff and provide effective supervision and development to outreach staff. Conduct probationary and annual Employee Performance Evaluations in a timely deadline.
Consult with Program Supervisor or Executive Director on all performance issues, potential terminations and other employee relations situations.
Perform routine and regular checks of evening, night, and weekend shifts.
Supervise community support groups.
Handle any changes to the posted work schedule with minimum disruptions as possible.
Work consistently towards developing and maintaining a culture of professionalism, support and assistance to all DVSC staff and clients.
Responsible for regularly reviewing client cases and client-based software for suitable case management, quality and scope of services, follow up, and completion.
Continually evaluates the policies, practices and procedures of the programs to provide recommendations on quality and efficiency improvements.
Oversees Carbon County Rapid Rehousing Program and Luzerne County Housing Programs.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:
Collaborate with the Training and Education Specialist to ensure the coordination, provision and timely completion of mandatory training of staff, volunteers and students.
Recommend relevant continuing education and training for staff, volunteers and students.
RECORDKEEPING:
Ensure the accurate collection of clients, statistical, and outcome-based information and the required reporting of information to various funding sources.
Ensure accurate documentation and collection of education and training related statistical information, particularly with regard to special projects. Maintain files of all substantial project-related literature and information.
Supervise the accurate documentation and collection of all volunteer-related statistical information and maintenance of volunteer files.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES - include but are not limited to:
Provide intervention as needed with individuals, other agencies, and systems on behalf of clients. Provide assistance in filing victim compensation claims. Assists with systems advocacy efforts as requested or needed.
Provide crisis intervention, intake, supportive options counseling safety planning, information and referral, advocacy with other community resources, follow up services, referral to emergency shelter and transportation arrangements, if needed, in person (Shelter/BH, court, and hospital) or on Hotline as necessary.
Provide recommendations to policies/procedures to improve work processes, efficiency, and quality; based on working knowledge of the program. Assist in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities designed to promote client self-sufficiency and independence.
Attend in-service training programs as scheduled/requested. Provide feedback on training acquired.
Ensure a safe, secure and efficient facility. Perform basic preventative maintenance to remove any safety concerns.
Perform other reasonably requested duties as per the Executive Director.
Assist Development Coordinator with fundraising as needed.
Assists with the design and implementation of marketing materials/brochures etc.
Assists in establishing a presence in Luzerne and Caron County through coordination and implementation of events and functions.
Provides on-call supervision as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND JOB SKILLS
A minimum of a high school diploma with 3 5 years of social work or related experience is required.
A bachelors degree in education, social work or other related field with previous supervisory experience is preferred.
Strong leadership skills are preferred; with the ability to interact professionally but assertively.
Must have the ability to work with a diverse population.
Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Proficient oral and written communication skills are essential.
This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision but to also be able to work as a member of a team.
The ability to exercise good judgment; using practical problem-solving skills in varying situations is important.
Complete Domestic Violence Counselor/Advocate training within a timely deadline.
Familiarity with feminist philosophy and issues; of problems faced by victims of domestic violence; of problems faced by disadvantaged and homeless women; and of social services provision is desired.

In addition to Domestic Violence and Bridge Housing Services, Counselor/Advocates who are assigned to work in the post-residential program provide home visits, case management, advocacy, support group services, etc., to women who are at particular risk of revictimization and/or homelessness.
Required Experience:
A minimum of an associates degree in child development or related field is required; a Bachelors degree is preferred.
At least 1 year experience in social service provision, child development, and/or child care.
Experience delivering effective learning activities will be an advantage.
