A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WOODWORKER / CUSTOM CABINETMAKER

As a Woodworker / Custom Cabinetmaker, you use your keen eye to build beautiful and functional cabinetry for our commercial clients. You are familiar with the variety of different glues and cements we use and each of their individual drying times, making it easy for you to manage project timing. Carefully following blueprints and the appropriate measurements, you operate the table saw, chop saw, dado machine, screw gun, staple gun, and other equipment and woodworking tools. Your knowledge about wood species, grain-matching, and 3from composites means that every cabinet you finish is durable and looks fantastic.

You take pride in your woodworking and stick closely to our company's quality control procedures and processes for building cabinetry. Each day, you find it rewarding to work with your hands and get great satisfaction out of seeing the results of your efforts in real-time!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A WOODWORKER / CUSTOM CABINETMAKER

A-dec woodworker job description

As the first of four levels of Woodworkers, this position performs basic machining tasks, which include operation of machines under training and supervision. Incumbents set up and operate machines using takt time sheets and templates.
Responsibilities

* Performs basic machining operations, which may include adapting fixtures and/or CNC programs. Requires set-up of power equipment to obtain the correct size, shape, or finish to print, and requires understanding of the Catia/Cut rite cut-list process. Also expected to perform first article inspection on assigned work.
* Performs semi-routine machining tasks such as routing, secondary cutting operations and sanding.
* Follows written and/or verbal instructions including templates, takt time sheets, method sheets, bill of materials and production orders. Incumbent interprets test results, troubleshoots and repairs parts not meeting quality standards and function, and refers situations outside of instructions to the unit specialist or supervisor.
* Achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards, makes recommendations for improvements, follows safety guidelines, and maintains an acceptable dependability level.

Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, interpret templates and takt time sheet instructions, select cutting tools and machine fixtures, and determine color, along with the ability to retain and apply department standards.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively inspect assigned work and the work of others using metric tape measures and other appropriate measuring tools.
* Must be able to read, write, and communicate work information in English with a demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
* Previous computer experience required.
* Manual dexterity is also required.
* Familiarity with machine shop tools and equipment a plus.
* Experience with basic woodworking or painting a plus.
