SMAW Welders (Stick Welders) Pay: $18-$21 per hour Shift: 1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM (10-hour shift) Schedule: Monday-Thursday OR Tuesday-Friday (must be flexible for either schedule) Overtime may be required based on production needs Key Responsibilities Perform SMAW (stick welding) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys per project specifications Interpret blueprints, welding procedures, and technical drawings Safely set up and operate welding equipment with accuracy Prepare and inspect weld surfaces, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up Conduct visual and measurement inspections to verify weld quality Maintain welding tools and equipment in proper working condition Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and hazard communication standards Assist with fabrication, cutting, grinding, and assembly as needed Work independently or as part of a team in indoor and outdoor environments Qualifications Proven experience as an SMAW/Stick Welder Ability to read and interpret welding symbols and blueprints Knowledge of welding standards and safety protocols (AWS, ASME, etc.) Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods Welding certification(s) preferred but not required (e.g., AWS D1.1) Work Environment Exposure to heat, sparks, and loud noise Required PPE includes helmet, gloves, and respirator (when necessary) May include work in varying weather conditions or confined spaces Essential FunctionsAs a Stick Welder, you will be responsible for selecting the appropriate weld type and producing structurally sound, high-quality welds. Cardinal Staffing is partnered with a manufacturing facility in Allendale, MI. focusing on customized fabrication. They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabricator/ Welder to join their manufacturing/production team. The Fabricator will be responsible for constructing, assembling, and repairing metal or other material structures and products using fabrication machinery according to blueprints and technical drawings. Positions start at $20/hr, with some flexibility based on experience. Shift times are Monday- Friday 6a-4:30p. This is a long term position with growth opportunities available within. Responsibilities: • Operate metalworking machines such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses, and CNC equipment to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape, or straighten sheet metal. • Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, partition frames, dust collection piping, and material handling systems. • Inspect product quality and 100% conformation to specifications. • Keep up with production pace throughout shift. • Follow directives from supervisors/leads. • Must have own tools. • Must pass weld test. Skills and Qualifications: • MIG welding various mild steel including 16 gauge, ¼”, 3/8”, ½”. • TIG/Stick welding experience a plus. • Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, sketches, and work specifications. • Mechanically inclined with ability to troubleshoot. • Strong math skills. • Must have weld fabrication experience with sheet metal and structural welding. • HS Diploma or equivalent. • Ability to work OT as needed.
