Opportunity Snapshot: Compensation: $46.00/hour Duration: 6 months+ Schedule: 4/10 with some overtime Benefits: Comprehensive insurance, 401(k) program, PTO & Holidays Company vehicle provided Responsibilities Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand/power tools Inspect and examine machinery/equipment to detect irregularities Adjust machinery and repair or replacing defective parts Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machineries Ensure operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installation. Participate in the PM program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports/documentation Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machineries Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Requires: 5+ years experience The ability to read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, blue prints, P&IDs, work permits, and technical instruction manuals is A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required Strong mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment is Basic computer skills such as opening, creating and updating content in MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets is required The ability to assume responsibility, prioritize and respond to multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a business like and professional manner is required Works indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment. Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities * Lead team(s) in the design of marine structures including docks, marinas, ports, ferry terminals, piers, steel sheet pile structures, steel and timber pile structures, floating structures and waterfront facilities. * Assist in recruiting, coaching and performance management of the team. * Undertake, supervise and provide technical mentorship on analysis, modelling, reports, design and drawings for marine structural engineering design. * Conduct peer reviews and facilitate quality assurance reviews. * Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, contractors and regulatory and environmental approval agencies. * Analyze tenders, review construction claims, prepare change orders, and process claims for monthly progress. * Monitor construction progress through site visits and meetings with clients and contractors. * Actively engage with internal and external clients for business development and coordinate the work with other disciplines. * Prepare or assist in preparing proposals, design work cost estimate, and project scheduling. * Actively encourage and support a safety-oriented culture. * Travel as required for various field programs. Qualifications * The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. * Over 10 years prior experience in marine structural engineering/research, or a related discipline. * Registered or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia as a professional engineer. * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues. * Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong client relations. * Demonstrated experience in marine inspections. * Experience leading a team, including recruitment, mentoring, coaching and performance management.
