The purpose of tutoring is to increase and enhance the student's mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study. An Instructional Tutor assists in providing individual and small group tutoring services to BCCC students. Instructional Tutors provide students with pre-tutoring assessments to identify the student's weakness and design an individualized learning plan.
Writing tutors help students with the writing process and not with editing papers. Using guiding questions, writing tutors elicit critical thinking in students, aiding the students understanding of his/her writing.
Please note the position will be in-person, on campus.
Responsibilities/Duties
Essential Functions:
Provide individual and small group tutoring to BCCC students in content areas;
Assist with assessing the academic needs of the students and developing plans for remediation;
Provide guidance on effective learning strategies to maximize the student's potential for academic progress and assist them in becoming successful, independent learners;
Communicate student progress to faculty and to the Tutoring Manager;
Maintain documentation on student remediation plan, process and success;
Develop resources and practice materials for use in tutoring sessions;
