What You Will Do: As a Senior Municipal Engineering Project Manager, your primary role would be overseeing and managing various engineering projects within a municipal setting, you are responsible for: All aspects of multi-discipline projects and clients from the proposal process to project closeout. You will plan, direct, and coordinate activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events so that projects move forward within the prescribed time frames and budgets. You will anticipate client needs, biases, and preferences and tailor communication and work output accordingly. Team Leadership: Leading a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress in multiple locations. You will work directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and or projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting. Client Relations: Establishing and maintaining relationships with municipal clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards Budgeting and Resource Management: Developing project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring expenditures to ensure cost control. Maintain open and effective communication with clients as well as internal and external stakeholders. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and challenges, developing risk mitigation strategies, and resolving issues that may arise during project execution. Contract Management: Overseeing contract negotiations, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements Prepare or coordinate preparation of project / client correspondence and documentation. You will participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through the following activities: plans, leads and participates in client meetings and networking events. Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices, and promoting innovation within the municipal engineering department Understanding of alternative funding sources for municipal projects, and ability to secure funding. What You Will Bring: The successful candidate must have: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school, Registration as a professional engineer (or the ability to obtain registration within six months) and 10+ years municipal experience; direct experience working for a municipality is a plus Our preferred candidate would have experience in managing municipal CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market A history in delivering projects with positive customer service experiences, A positive attitude, as well as a willingness to learn. The ability and desire to develop an understanding of, or even anticipate the client's needs, is a plus. Responsible for leading formal Project Reviews for his/her projects. * Assigns and manages tasks, schedules, and budgets to project team members (including any sub-contractors). Communicates significant performance issues to team members and Practice Leaders so that appropriate action may be taken. * Ensures the accuracy of completed tasks through the use of established HR Green QA/QC processes established for each project. * Completes major design tasks that meet the needs of internal and external customers. * Monitors and pro-actively identifies or corrects technical, schedule or financial issues through effective communication with staff. * Assists the Client in bidding or contractor selection. * Monitors construction and supervises field personnel assigned to a task, data collection or a specific project. * Serves as primary client contact for selected projects. Responds to contractor questions and issues and prepares and issues project addenda as needed. * Recommends and prepares change orders. * Signs and seals engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. * Must have 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience.
