This Opportunity Provides technical assistance and guidance for water/wastewater production, treatment and conveyance infrastructure projects. Tasks may include assisting with the analysis, development, and design of water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, water treatment systems, water/wastewater distribution planning, master planning, treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards. Who You Are Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water/Wastewater or closely related discipline. * 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in water/wastewater engineering. * Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas. * Expertise in water/wastewater engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues. * Knowledge of Texas Commission of Environmental Quality regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. * Basic experience with preparing permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of environmental issues and conditions associated with water/wastewater projects. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience either orally or written. * Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment. * Demonstrated ability mentoring junior staff in engineering principles and growing them into competent engineers. * Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies. * Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. * Familiarity with hydraulic modeling (such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.), process modeling (GPS-X, etc), and with ESRI ArcGIS software. * Experience with coordinating technical matters with public and private groups * Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. * Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. * Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. * Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. WSP is seeking an Electrical Engineering Substation Summer Intern (2026) to work out of our Austin, TX office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program. This Opportunity WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Through our Developing Professionals Network, interns gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections. This internship is anticipated to take place during the Summer 2026 semester. The program is anticipated to take place from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. The individual start date is flexible. Your Impact Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering. Design low to extra high voltage utility substations, including one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, and substation layout. Perform design calculations in accordance with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, etc.). Support senior engineers with QA/QC design checks. Assist design engineers with physical and protection/control design for electric utility substations. Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship. Who You Are Required Qualifications Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later. Must be 18 or older. Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects. Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects. Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship. Preferred Qualifications Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
