    This Opportunity: WSP is currently initiating a search for a Process Piping Designer. Be involved in projects with our Power Generation team in multiple offices including Hailey ID, Boise, ID, Mount Laurel NJ, Oradell, NJ, Overland Park, KS, Atlanta, GA, Calgary, AB and Edmonton, AB. Your Impact: * Develop piping system layouts and routing plans using 2D/3D CAD software and coordinate integration with plant and facility design. * Review and interpret P&IDs, equipment layouts, and utility drawings to generate line routing, supports, and general arrangement plans. * Perform engineering calculations related to pipe sizing, pressure drops, thermal expansion, and support loads. * Support stress analysis efforts and assist with interpretation of stress modeling results to inform routing and support requirements. * Select piping components and materials based on fluid service, pressure class, temperature, and corrosion considerations. * Prepare technical deliverables such as line lists, MTOs, valve data sheets, and piping specifications. * Lead the preparation of isometric drawings, bill of materials, and fabrication packages in collaboration with designers and drafters. * Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and process disciplines to ensure design compatibility and resolve interface issues. * Conduct field verifications and site walkdowns to validate design assumptions and capture as-built conditions. * Participate in design reviews, model reviews, and constructability assessments with internal teams and clients. * Review vendor documentation for pipe fittings, supports, specialty items, and equipment connections for design alignment. * Track progress and contribute to schedule compliance for assigned tasks within project timelines. * Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. * Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are: Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience). * 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in piping engineering or industrial facility design. * Engineer in Training Certification. * Strong understanding of piping design principles, component selection, and layout requirements. * Experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or SmartPlant) for piping and general arrangement development. * Familiarity with applicable piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3, API, ANSI, ASTM). * Ability to evaluate material compatibility and corrosion resistance based on service conditions. * Experience interpreting and developing P&IDs, line lists, and piping specifications. * Working knowledge of thermal expansion, pipe stress, and flexibility considerations in layout design. * Experience working on multidisciplinary teams and contributing to integrated plant or facility designs. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for design documentation, calculations, and material takeoffs. * Strong communication skills for coordination with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders. * Understanding of constructability principles and ability to contribute to field and construction-phase engineering support. Responsibilities include the research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of automatic sprinkler, fire alarm, mass notification systems, smoke control, egress analysis, and building and fire code analysis review and compliance. Substantiates reports and documentation regarding installation, construction, and operation specifications. Your Impact To support the Senior Project Engineer, WSP's Field Engineering Technologist will perform the following duties: * Act as an Engineering Technician in support of the Senior Project Engineer in planning, designing, and building the Project Quality Assurance Plan, processes, procedures and work instructions for the Field Project. * Provide Engineering support of the construction to the Senior Project Engineer by performing field reviews of the work performed by the construction contractor to verify it meets the technical specifications established in the IFC engineering packages and that any changes/deviations have been identified, reviewed and accepted by the Senior Project Engineer, the Engineer of Record and members of the engineering team. * Assist the Senior Project Engineer in coordinating Quality Assurance Inspection teams to report on any non-conformities to the engineering requirements and to recommend corrective action and remediation/mitigation to minimize schedule, cost and quality impacts to the project. * Perform and provide to the Senior Project Engineer non-conformance reporting (NCR), punch list and coordinate inspections to ensure final construction build meets engineering specifications and is managed in real-time throughout the project. * Verify the construction contractor has adhered to and ECN or RFI responses in respect to revisions to the engineering specifications and report finding to the Senior Project Engineer. * Support Senior Project Engineer in liaising with internal Engineering teams to interpret, communicate, and suggest alternatives to engineered technical construction specifications. * Support the Senior Project Engineer in documenting project activities, creating and maintaining a reporting structure to make all stakeholders aware of daily, weekly, and monthly technical reports from the field, including daily inspections and non-conformance reporting. * Conduct field visits with the Senior Project Engineer to provide technical guidance and implement a Project Quality Plan audit in accordance with POWER's Quality Management System. * Confer with the Senior Project Engineer about reviewing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and leading/being part of constructability reviews. * Use computer-aided design software under the charge and guidance of the Senior Project Engineer. * Evaluate pre-construction field conditions, suggesting any needed engineering changes based on the existing conditions. * Monitor field tests of construction materials, welding, bolting, concrete placement and obtaining of samples by 3rd party testing laboratories. * Complete walk-downs with Senior Project Engineer to assess final completion and project close-out status. Who You Are Required Qualifications * At minimum 8 years in a utility and/or heavy construction environments with a minimum of 5-years in EHV transmission lines, HVDC, power generation or sub-stations. * Working knowledge is preferred for solar PV, battery energy storage systems, wind turbines generators, HVDC converter stations and gas turbines. * Experience interpreting IFC engineering packages and technical drawings. * Experience with Quality Management Systems (i.e. ISO 9001, Six Sigma, etc.) and the development of quality processes, procedures and work instructions. * Ability to be able to read and understand engineering specifications and drawing and assess constructability and make necessary recommendations to engineering teams. * Must be able to spend a significant amount of time in the field evaluating construction and assuring technical specifications are met. * Subject matter expertise in the understanding of the construction, quality, safety, environmental and permitting requirements of the work with all the necessary steps and accompanying technical requirements. * Ability to audit and spot check reports against actual field conditions. * Significant experience with Geo-spatial reporting software, including ability to contrast field realities against established schedules. * Knowledge of the use and evaluation of ITPs and ITRs. * Clear understanding of IFC technical engineering specifications and the tools/processes necessary to capture, memorialize, and verify realities against specifications. * Understanding of construction workflows, technical requirements, ability to identify and anticipate showstoppers in the construction process to efficiently and effectively deploy a team of technically qualified Quality Assurance inspectors. * Previous work history estimating and/or evaluating large project construction estimates. This is an exciting opportunity to work on state-of-the-art cleanrooms, research labs, data centers, and industrial production facilities. Your Key Responsibilities * Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures for high-tech facilities. * Develop structural calculations, design packages, construction documents, and technical specifications. * Support all phases of project execution-from programming and schematic design to construction documents and construction administration. * Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers. * Ensure designs are code-compliant (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.) and meet industry and client-specific standards. * Conduct site investigations and field assessments to support design and troubleshooting. * Review submittals and RFIs; participate in construction oversight and project close-out. * Engage with clients and project stakeholders to incorporate feedback and ensure structural integrity meets operational needs. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. * Proficiency in structural analysis and modeling software (e.g., RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, Revit, AutoCAD). * Strong understanding of structural systems in industrial, high-tech, or cleanroom facilities is a major plus. * Knowledge of seismic and wind design, especially in high-risk seismic zones. * Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. * Ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and deadlines. * Willingness to travel/work on client project site. Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred). * 5+ years of experience in structural engineering design and coordination. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program. WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Through our Developing Professionals Network, interns gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections. This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible. Your Impact Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. Learn basic principles of Telecommunications Engineering. Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis. Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates. Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. Complete training on assigned tasks.
