Wyndemere company history timeline
Windermere did not exist until the arrival of the railway line from Kendal in 1847.
Rev Addison ran into financial problems and sold the church to the town of Windermere in 1855.
After Queen Victoria's visit to Windermere for her Golden Jubilee in 1887 the pub was renamed in her honour.
In 1910, the Windermere Improvement Company was formed by Doctor J.H. Johnson and J. C. Palmer.
They formed the Windermere Improvement Company, built a schoolhouse, formed the Board of Trade in 1912, and much more.
Eventually, in 1925, Windermere became an incorporated town!
