ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Visually inspects and troubleshoots customer's equipment and use diagnostic equipment to proficiently determine problems or malfunctions. * Regularly removes, repairs or replaces components or piece parts on engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, on-board diagnostic systems, air systems, fuel systems, transmissions and related power train systems. * All repairs must meet or exceed the expectations of the Field Service Supervisor and the customer. * Regularly reviews data from the trouble shooting and inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates. * Regularly reviews data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to work up detailed and accurate parts orders. * Ability to properly start and safely operate all Caterpillar products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Provide local, and out of territory, Commissioning and Service technical support and implementation, as well as startup of full power plant EPC projects. This could include, but is not limited to adherence to design implementation, technical support, tuning, testing, coordination with BOP commissioning, programming, performance testing, service technical support and contractual adherence. · Learn and understand the installation and application of all the various types of equipment and systems that the Energy Solutions Engineering, Procurement and Construction team provides, designs, installs, and maintains both individually and as part of larger projects including but not limited to Industrial and Petroleum Engines, Electric Power Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches and Switchgear, Caterpillar Microgrid Products, Energy Storage Systems, Solar Power (PV, Inverters, System Controllers, Racking and Tracking Systems, etc.), Turbines, Distributed Control Systems, and other Power Systems Equipment such as Transformers, Emissions Reduction Systems, Battery Systems, etc. EPC Project Commissioning and Service Support: · Review the contractual and design specifications to gain a better understanding of the all requirements and commitments, while at the same time, creating a specification review to identify discrepancies, exceptions, clarifications, and/or special notes. · Work closely with the designated Energy Solutions Engineering, Procurement and Construction team on individual projects as directed by the Service Contracts and Equipment Manager. · Generate necessary power plant testing, commissioning and service reports and tests (as required by the design specifications and contractual requirements) utilizing Energy Solutions resources. To include: general arrangement drawings (GA Drawings), structural drawings and equipment footprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P & ID), electrical schematics (AC, DC, and Interconnection Diagrams), functional design specifications, distributed control system and instrumentation List. · Assist in building Operation and Maintenance (O & M) Manuals including as built information to be sent to the customer upon project completion utilizing the Energy Solutions resources. · Provide ongoing Service Technical Support as needed in order to maintain power plant service contractual adherence as determined by the Service Contracts and Equipment Manager. Commissioning and Service Reporting: · Keep track of all information regarding Commissioning and Service testing, tuning, etc. using the required software. · Report the progress of each project and its current phase to the Energy Solutions Engineering, Procurement and Construction Team and the Service Contracts and Equipment Manager. · Ensure reporting accuracy, efficiency and history of each Energy Solutions project and service contract for continued future improvement. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS · Work on other projects throughout Energy Solutions as designated by Service Contracts and Equipment Manager. · Coordinate advertising, promotion and marketing activities with various entities in the Company and with Caterpillar to ensure that a consistent, appropriate message is delivered to the territory. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Regularly inspects customer tracks, rollers and idlers for repair possibilities visual inspection, determine reusability following CAT guidelines and by the use of measuring equipment to determine life of components. * Regularly operates track press, roller/idler press, idler, welder, stick welder or any other tools required to repair or recondition undercarriage components. * Write detailed and accurate service reports stating the nature of the job, cause of failure, and what has been done. * Work within established flat rate time standards and quality control. * Must be able to work a rotating shift; to include days, evening and nights. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS * Review data from the inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates. * Review data from the inspection process to work up detailed and accurate parts orders. * Assist and give hand signals to mobile crane operators. * Keep a clean and safe work area. * Service all equipment on a regular basis, as well as do minor repairs on the equipment. * Work with a positive attitude and a spirit of cooperation. * Understand and keep current on all service literature made available or supplied by the Company. * Communicate with customers and Caterpillar representatives. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY * Needs to have been exposed to construction and mining equipment thru technical schools, or on the job training. * Must be able to read and understand English. Read and understand parts books, I.R.M., and special instructions. * Must have the ability to read and comprehend literature and basic measuring tools and to understand basic arithmetic. * Must be able to type meaningful and grammatically correct service reports in a timely manner. * Ability to manipulate control knobs is required for the machine operation in a safe effective manner. * Must have the ability to measure tracks, rollers and idlers to figure percentages worn accurately. * Must be able to use their ability in a meaningful and productive manner during the course of their daily job assignment. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Regularly use, track press, roller/idler press, stick welder, idler welder, hand wrenches, hammers, impact tools, dial indicators, micrometer, parts washers, honing equipment, forklift, overhead hoist, slings, and chains. Work in direct contact with solvents and other degreasing/cleaning agents. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS * Prolonged standing and walking. * Sitting 1-3 hours. * Able to lift up to 50 lbs. * Use hands for repetitive fine manipulation, grasping, pushing and pulling. * Frequently squat, bend and climb. * Use feet frequently in repetitive movement. * Work in any position on a piece of equipment with ability to torque a series of bolts. * Exposure to loud noises, dirt, grime, outside weather conditions, etc. * Willing to work overtime as needed. * Willing to work different shifts (day, night swing shifts) depending on business need.
