Procedures include basic imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic and extremity. Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy. Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies. Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assists in the proper scanning techniques. Provides measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation with direction from the Radiologist. Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images. Prepares and maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges. Identifies equipment performance issues and performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Pay Range $26.10 - $39.15 Major Responsibilities: Competently performs basic to advanced radiologic procedures including general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, and c-arm procedures, if performed at assigned facility. Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns. Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods. Identifies patient and labels images pertaining to the patient, compares requisitions to physician's orders to ensure exam accuracy, and processes images ensuring quality of radiographs and calls back patients as necessary. Assists, communicates and consults with the physician(s). Works independently outside the department with providers. Prepares and maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges. Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff. Acts as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system. Assists with accreditation efforts. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Report equipment malfunctions to Center Operations Director * Ensure all Radiology workflows are followed and all Radiology reports cross correctly to EMR * Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient x-ray visit. * Maintain all x-ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures, and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures Medical Assistant Duties * Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing * Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing (in accordance with state regulations) * Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.) * Assist providers during examination and treatment * Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed * Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care * Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician * Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations * Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center * Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms * Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures * Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected * In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume * Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit * Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping * Ensure accuracy in documentation * Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed * Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules * Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required * Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility * Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly.
