Job Overview

The CT/XR Registered Technologist is a full-time Technologist and will be responsible for obtaining high quality radiographic images. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The technologist must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are relaxed and at ease during the exam and provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to establish inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports "near misses" and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate.
Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.
Performs visual preventative maintenance checks of all assigned equipment at the beginning and end of each shift. Records and reports maintenance requirements to appropriate staff.
Helps maintain an effective Performance Improvement, Q/A & Q/C program in compliance with Joint Commission, Texas DSHS, IAC and/or ACR
Reviews exposed radiographs ensuring proper positioning, techniques and identification are obtained per protocol. Documents all exams/procedures in logbooks and enters charges in patient's EMR.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent, graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Sciences and Limited Medical Radiology Technician (LMRT) license in Texas.
Previous medical clerical experience preferred.
Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office.
Accuracy and detail orientation.
Positive customer service skills.
Physical Demands
required for this position include: the ability to speak clearly, close vision, the ability to stand for extended periods, the ability to reach and bend, periodic lifting and moving of items of no more than ten (10) pounds, and walking.
Work Environment
while performing the duties of this job are working in an indoor healthcare environment, working with a moderate noise level, working with a potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and diseases with a requirement to wear appropriate PPE, (ie. gloves, masks, etc.)

Objectives of this role:
The x-ray technician's role is to provide optimal care in a patient-centered environment and to provide subspecialty expertise. Provide top quality imaging and therapeutic procedures. Assist in the role as a medical assistant when x-ray technician duties are slow.
Responsibilities:
Verifying client identity and reviewing medical staff's orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
Provide verbal and/or written instruction
Correctly position the client in positioning body parts to be radiographed, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
Adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position.
Ensuring that the x-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during scan.
Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the client
Follow correct techniques and procedures such as client shielding
Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders or informing Clinic Manager.
Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
Maintaining an accurate record of completed x-ray procedures.
Adhere to ethical standards of conduct as well as applicable state and federal laws.
Login into the appropriate radiology site. Label exams accordingly.
Match any completed reports with the appropriate chart and place in the appropriate area.
At the end of each day, compare logs with Synapse to ensure all x-rays have been sent and highlighted.
Wipe down all x-ray equipment and clean films.
May be required to work at other PRIME clinics and on-site locations.

Physical Demands: Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time, lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 125 pounds. Repetitive motion.
