X-Ray Technician Reports To: Manager, Radiologic Services Department: Diagnostic Imaging - X-Ray FLSA Status: Non-Exempt The X-Ray Technician will complete the imaging examination according to the study protocol and company policies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Performs examination according to study protocols for each individual study. Provide explanations of examinations, answering questions and offer chaperones to patients in accordance to the company's policies and procedures. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continued education; training and interaction to other radiology technicians. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, policies, and OSHA regulations. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Protects patients and employees by adhering to company's policies and procedures. Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments. Provide all proper electronic and paper documentation according to the company's policies and procedures. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Performs other duties as assigned such as welcome eligible participants to the study, facilitate completion of the study questionnaire and review patient inform consents forms with participants. Maneuvering the MRI equipment and positioning it to capture the correct images. Monitoring patients during scanning and maintaining patients' records. Monitoring MRI equipment functions. Ensuring clear images for Physicians to provide accurate diagnoses.

AZURA PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Supports the Organization's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the Organization's Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and policy requirements. Assists physicians in performing a variety of interventional radiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality control of the radiological equipment in accordance with the Organization's policies, procedures, and training. Assists with the inventory and supply management. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs various activities necessary for the preparation of the patient and the procedure room for the radiology procedures in compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Reviews patient specific procedure orders to determine materials/supplies that will be needed. Sets up/ stocks the procedure room/procedure trays with all needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedure and cleans procedure room post procedure, including but not limited to cleaning of equipment/machinery. Conducts all necessary preparations of the patient procedure room and documents when appropriate. Explains procedure to the patient, answers questions and addresses patient concerns. Assists with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving and prepping. Performs patient transfers and transports patient to and from procedure room. Inputs patient data into the C-Arm. Acts as scrub assistant assisting the physician during interventional procedures and administers fluoroscopy to enable the physician to see flow through the blood vessels to identify areas in need of intervention while maintaining a sterile technique according to the established company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Complies with HIPPA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality. Draws up intravenous medication and labels as per the organization's medication labeling policy. Processes x-ray images and archives to the image repository, CD or DVD to comply with the organization's policies and procedures for patient medical records and state regulations. Provides outstanding quality of patient care by supporting and driving the organization's quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of CQI tools. Assists with implementing the organization's quality goals and facility specific action plans to achieve the organization's quality standards. Ensures medical records are accurate, complete and in compliance with the organization's policies and procedures. Maintains integrity of medical records, filing paperwork in patient files according to policies and procedures and performing audits on a regular basis. Assists with maintaining environmental integrity and aesthetics. Ensures all areas are clean, sanitary, and safe daily Ensures all facility equipment and instruments are in proper working condition by inspecting equipment daily before and after procedures. Makes recommendations regarding replacement of equipment and repairs. Assists with disposal of hazardous waste materials, dirty linen, and rugs. Prepares, organizes, and efficiently utilizes supplies and equipment to prevent waste. Attends and participates in Governing Body, assisting with meeting agenda and gathering of data/material for meetings. Ensures effective communication with physicians. Attends and participates in CQI meetings with physicians, reporting on assigned topics. Works with the physicians and staff to ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are on hand. Addresses physician concerns in areas of responsibility. Assists in training and orienting new employees. Ensures patient billing is accurate and timely by reviewing all procedures, documenting patient equipment charges, and verifying CPT and ICD9 codes are correct. Assists with inventory, ordering of supplies and re-stocking of supplies. Acts as Radiation Safety Officer; monitors radiation badges and conducts in-services regarding radiation safety. Participates in all facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans to address any deficiencies identified. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION: None EDUCATION: High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree desirable; and Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. Current ARRT Certification and/or State Licensure (as per state regulations) Interventional Radiology certificate preferred. EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: 4 - 6 years' related experience desirable. 1 year experience preferred for Candidates with ARRT. Working knowledge of interventional equipment (including C-Arm and Ultrasound equipment). Experience with interventional procedures, using/ordering/maintaining required materials/supplies for each procedure. Knowledge and experience of sterile techniques. Knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective devices to be utilized when operating radiology systems. Successfully complete BLS certification. Experience with monitoring and maintaining inventory. Proficient in the use of computers and related software such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
