Effectively uses electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters and access pertinent patient data and imaging results. Assignment Level II: 1. Performs procedures on patients whose conditions require specialized expertise. 2. Assists Radiologists, other physicians and allied health care professionals in performing diagnostic or treatment procedures. 3. Performs diagnostic testing on equipment and general maintenance. 4. Monitors patient and equipment condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professional. 5. Assists and guides radiographers in the performance of a wide variety of x-ray procedures. 6. Trains and assists radiographers in a wide variety of x-ray procedures. 7. Plans, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure continuous flow of work. 8. Supervises radiographers and ancillary personnel assigned to the area. 9. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure operational viability of the area. Assignment Level III: 1. Supervises the delivery of radiological services, in accordance with established standards and procedures, for the service area or unit. 2. Recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of radiological services. 3. Participates in the development of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary personnel and allied health care professionals. Demonstrates new or revised techniques, procedures and equipment. 4. May perform radiologic procedures, as required. 5. Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography). 6. Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings. 7. Responsibilities * Greet patients and explain procedures to patients in a compassionate manner * Position patients appropriately for diagnostic imaging procedures * Practice ALARA radiation protection techniques * Process images, review for proper identification and quality control and prepare images for reading by a physician as well as radiologist overreads * Utilize both digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all policies and procedures * Aid provider with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocol as necessary. * Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed * Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed * Serve as Medical Receptionist and/or Medical Assistant if/when needed within appropriate guidelines * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training. Job Summary: The X-Ray Tech performs basic to complex diagnostic radiographic procedures as requested by a licensed physician, including operation of special imaging and radiology equipment. Skilled at sterile field assistance during operating room and pain management procedures. Perform the described duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in the following: * Outpatient diagnostic Radiology, Fluoroscopy * Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by physician; adjust equipment for proper exposure, voltage and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. * Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment; explain x ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient condition to attending medical staff. * Monitor accessory equipment and assist attending physician with fluoroscopic examinations and special radiographic studies. * Record amount and type of film exposed; label film with identifying information; sort as required. * Consult with lead x-ray tech and radiologist to ensure compliance with established standards of quality. * Process film in accordance with standardized procedures and maintain assigned work area in clean and orderly condition. * Strong teamwork skills, utilizing "down time" to perform other assigned tasks, including room turnovers, restocking warmer, specialty carts, etc. Pay Range: $36.62 - $46.00/hr(Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications and experience.)
