Operates radiographic fluoroscopy equipment to obtain diagnostic images of coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease.
Conducts hemodynamic monitoring of patient during procedure and reporting values to performing physician.
Monitors delivery of radiation dose to patient to achieve safe delivery with minimal exposure to staff.
Transmits, archives, and retrieves digital images in picture archiving and communicating systems (PACS).
Performs quality control standards by using the optimum diagnostic imaging and performing regular maintenance of fluoroscopy equipment.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Staff Technologist in Special Procedures will assume the responsibility in assisting with all examinations performed within the Special Procedures Room. They will be proficient at radiographic examination which requires thorough knowledge of positioning techniques, technical factors and anatomical factors. The technologist will assist radiologist and other physicians with procedures as required while maintaining a good relationship with them and other staff members.
What you will do in this role:
Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
Responsible for safe handling of equipment and films.
Assesses patient's understanding of process and informed consent of invasive procedures.
Assesses, evaluates and informs physician of changes in patient's condition during exam.
Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.

General Duties:
Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS and if needed reviews scans with the Radiologists as to important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities. Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure.
Administers sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies, to ensure the safety of the patient: Communicates effectively with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination.
Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation. Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
Responds and follows up on critical test findings. Acquires and evaluates patient lab values to make sure they are within normal limits (BUN, CR, pregnancy, glucose) when applicable.
Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and employees: Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical and mechanical hazards. Troubleshoots malfunctions, immediately reports dangerous conditions to the appropriate person.
Maintains work area in a clean, orderly fashion. Checks stock supply levels, maintains supplies at par level and displays an effort in supply maintenance and utilization. Cleans and disinfects equipment maintains supply of linen in the room.
Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements: Participates in department QC and PI programs, follows up on all deficiencies.
