Prepares the patient for procedures by explaining the exam and answers his/her questions as best as possible. Provides radiation protection (shielding / collimation) for the patient, self, and others in accordance with prescribed safety standards of ALARA (including wearing his/her film badge). Selects proper technical factors according to the size of the individual patient and produces/develops quality radiographs while using appropriate lead markers. Critiques radiographs (density/detail/contrast/positioning/markers/anatomy visible), makes technical adjustments and performs repeats as necessary. Along with the pain management team, assists during fluoroscopic procedures (i.e.: epidural steroid injections, hip aspirations). Reports equipment problems to department supervisor, office manager, and vendor. Participates in training of new employees.
