ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(90%) Patient CT Imaging
Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure
Explains and prepares patients for scanning imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately
Performs routine and advanced scanning imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats scanned, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
Adjusts scanning scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers
Follows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers
Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers
Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements
Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs fluoroscopic procedures for the treatment of patients of all age groups, utilizing the guidelines of the professional radiology practice standards. Under direction, incumbents may instruct and prepare patients for radiologic examinations;
Determine the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shield patients appropriately;
Prepare patients for radiologic examinations by explaining the procedure, removing articles such as jewelry, through which x-rays cannot pass
Positioning patients so that the correct parts of the body can be radiographed.
Place the x-ray film under the part of the patient's body to be examined and make the exposure. Then remove the film and develop it.
Position and operate stationary or portable radiologic machines and take x-rays images of all parts of the human body for the physician to use in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
Produce x-ray films (radiographs), develop, make copies and fix x-ray films of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems.
Prepare solutions for processing films;
Assist in fluoroscopic work; under supervision, make clinical photographs of unusual cases and identify photographs;
Maintain equipment and quarters;
Monitors patients during the procedure.
Surround the exposed area with radiation protection devices, such as lead shields, or limit the size of the x-ray beam to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
Using instruments similar to a measuring tape, measure the thickness of the section to be radiographed and set controls on the machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail and contrast.
Keep records and files;
Make reports as needed and other related duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques; regional and gross anatomy of the human body; standardized radiologic clinical procedures; thorough knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and the safety precautions required; the operation and care of modern radiologic equipment; and the ordering and storing of supplies.
Ability to communicate effectively at a level required for successful job performance; administer emergency aid for shock; prepare solution used in processing x-ray film and process film; keep simple records, file film correctly, and compile reports; follow directions; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
EDUCATION: (include any licenses or certifications required)
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Possession of a current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the Florida State Department of Health Services.
Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist. (Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training.)
Successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Knowledge of email systems such a Microsoft Outlook sufficient to communicate with both internal and external contacts.
Knowledge of Word and Excel sufficient to create simple documents such as memos and reports, enter data, copy or cut and paste data and print results.
OTHER:
Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.

Ensures that all documentation required for the completion of exams is done in VISTA CPRS.
Must be certain patient identification and requests are identical.
Validates all images and corrects incorrect information prior to sending to VISTA for interpretation by the Radiologist. If deletion for VISTA is required, the proper documentation must be presented for deletion of images from the medical record through the PACS Administrator and/or ADPAC Coordinator.
Help to maintain effective control for the Radiology Department by coordinating organizing and executing the work potential to expedite workflow patterns with the department.
Continuously works to develop a cohesive and effective team with other areas of the Radiology Department and with other areas of the entire facility to expedite quality patient care.
Ensures that adequate quantities of supplies for general Radiology are available to meet workload demands.
Assures that procedure rooms are always stocked with necessary supplies, with special attention to emergent equipment and supplies. Alerts supervisor when supplies are needed.
Must recognize and report major equipment malfunctions within a timely manner
Ensures that all equipment is in proper working order prior to use.
Removes and tags defective equipment and notifies DRT Supervisor or Chief Technologist.
Responsible for making routine calibration on equipment.
Keeps abreast of technological advances in the Radiology field.
Successfully completes all required educational classes and successfully receives all Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as governed by the ARRT, to maintain and active status with the ARRT.
Completes all education in TMS in timely manner.
Mains certification in BLS.
Work with Medical Support Staff to schedule and prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures to patients while performing studies.
Obtain pertinent diagnostic examinations for the ordering provider.
Correlates the clinical history with the test to be performed.
Maintains records and files of exams performed on patients. Includes the maintenance of patient registration and editing of patient exams in the computerized information system.
Properly identifies patient images. Essential so that mistaken identity of patient images does not occur. The Technologist must be certain the patient ID band and the request are identical.
Confirms patient identity by verbally confirming patient name and social security number.
Responsible to explain exams to competent patients so that patients understand what is to be done as well as what hazards, if any, are possible.
Qualifications:
Certification: RT Certification from ARRT is required and CT Certification is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
License: Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted license in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S and/or certification as required.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a willingness to adapt and innovate as needed.

The mission of the Student Health Center (SHC) is create the best possible experience for the patient by providing quality healthcare services, with compassion and efficiency, in a Christ centered environment. As a member of the SHC team the Radiology Practical Technician will carry out the mission statement and assist clinicians(s) by knowing the job well and performing it efficiently.
Note: This is a part-time position 20 hours per week and a temporary role with a duration of approximately 1 to 6 months.
What you'll do in this position:
Responds promptly, professionally and courteously to patient's needs
Provides efficient effective patient care in compliance with clinic policies and procedures, legal and regulatory standards.
Prepare patients for exam. Interview's patients and ensures all pertinent information is available to the physician
Maintains clean and orderly exam rooms. Ensures exam rooms are stocked with needed supplies and equipment. Cleans and sterilizes instruments following clinic policy and procedures.
Preforms x-rays in all certified areas. Inputs images to PACs (Picture Archiving and communication system) and EMR (Centricity).
Maintains CPR and RPT certification
Attend meetings as required.

International Health and Medical Services is looking for an experienced Radiology Technician to perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays and other imaging studies, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients' medical conditions. This role includes ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during imaging procedures and maintaining compliance with health regulations and protocols.
Perform conventional radiology imaging of patients, who may include adult men and women and children. Most conventional imaging will involve chest radiography to screen for tuberculosis; however, conventional imaging of any body part that can be performed with the facility imaging equipment will be done as needed.
Provide direct care to patients within discipline Scope of Practice and performs functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing and or granted privileges.
Provide treatment of persons throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting.
Respond to and or coordinate response to medical emergencies.
Take radiologic images of head, trunk, and extremities for routine physical examinations and for diagnosis of illness or injuries.
Set up X-ray rooms, deviates from the standard positioning and adapts a position to meet the needs of the patient.
Evaluate x-ray to ensure that films are artifact free, correctly developed and are the best films that can be taken.
Call significant findings to the attention of the physician or ordering health care provider.
Ensure all precautions are taken so that the patient and radiology personnel are receiving the smallest amount of radiation as possible.
Maintain use of dosimeter badge in accordance with vendor recommendations while on duty.
Responsible for logging in and documenting all x-rays performed by the incumbent.
Files x-ray reports and jackets in the appropriate place.
Maintains an up-to-date quality control system on the x-ray machines and processor.
Confer with radiologist to establish requirements of nonstandard examinations and determines technical factors, positioning, number and thickness cut of scans to satisfy the requirements.
Advises radiologist or referring physician of results of examination and provides a preliminary diagnostic evaluation.
Notifies radiologist of significant scans requiring their immediate attention and visualization while patient is undergoing examination.
Perform record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and position.
Maintain functional proficiency and ease of use utilizing electronic health records as required by, and appropriate to, position.
Complete and pass all discipline specific competencies testing, initially and annually.
Complete all initial, annual and ad hoc training as required.
Maintain patient confidentiality, and confidentiality of medical records, in compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations in all work activities.
Adhere to, and maintains awareness of Policies, Procedures, Directives, Operational Memoranda and accreditation standards as prescribed.
Adhere to, and participate in, Safety, Prevention, Infection and Control, Quality Improvement, Patient Education and other programs and collateral duties as appropriate to position.
Provide patient education on the intake screening process (includes facilitating completion of the medical care consent form), how to access care, the grievance process, and the method to request accommodations.
Scan and verify medical records documents.
Attend and participate in general and medical staff meetings.
Apply knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques including concepts of accumulated dosage and genetic changes, effects of radiation on living organisms, and the effects of X-ray technique on patient and operator exposure in order to assure that adequate safeguards are maintained.
Possess knowledge of basic physics including the concepts of energy, electric power, and types of electrical circuits, construction and the use of X-ray tubes and the properties of X-rays in order to understand the operation of the X-ray equipment, make changes to standard procedures to compensate for equipment aging, and determine when maintenance or repair is needed.
Have Knowledge and proficiency of medical terminology.
Work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
Utilize telephonic interpreter and translation services to complete assigned duties if not fluent in a language the patient understands.
Adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements.

Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Current National Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).
Must have and maintain an unrestricted and current license as a Radiology Technician issued by the state licensing authority in the state where services are performed.
One-year experience as a certified (license if required) Radiologic Technologist.
Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting (preferred, not required).
Basic Life Support (BLS) required. If not American Heart Association (AHA) certified, must be within first year.
Trained in Basic First Aid.
