Under general supervision, position in this function utilize equipment and computer systems to provide patients with quality digital mammograms. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, quality control and the adherence to American College of Radiology and MQSA guidelines. The position requires excellent positioning, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Hours: 7:30 am - 6:00 pm (no weekends)
Primary Responsibilities:
Consistently performs high quality digital mammograms
Follows established protocols based on the needs of the individual patient and ordered exam
Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during exam
Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff
Evaluates images for technical quality
Maintains the cleanliness of the mammography machine and associated equipment in accordance with the infection control policies and procedures

Qualifications - External
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Active WA state license or pending application
Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and board certified or board eligible in Mammography (must obtain certification within one year of hire)
Completion of a course in imaging technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Summary:
The Mammography Technologist implements orders from physicians and assists with procedures to help diagnose and treat breast disease in patients. They perform screenings and diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases. They ensure accurate imaging, maintain compliance with radiation safety standards, and provide compassionate care to patients. Working collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams, they prioritize patient safety and comfort while maintaining high-quality imaging practices.
Essential Work Functions:
Explain procedures to patients and answer questions if they arise
Position patient appropriately for imaging procedure
Maintain medical imaging equipment, ensure machines are functioning properly, and organize the procedure room for optimal safety and efficiency
Monitor image quality during procedures, adjusting as needed to achieve diagnostic accuracy
Collaborate effectively with radiologists and healthcare teams as necessary
Follow hospital policies, safety regulations, and infection control procedures
Practice infection prevention through consistent hand hygiene, use of PPE, and isolation precautions
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice for Mammography Technologists
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend

Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Multi-Procedure Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed radiation for diagnostic purposes, is registered and/or certified in a minimum of two diagnostic imaging modalities (a combination of ARRT registry with bone density, MRI, CT, quality management, special procedures and/or mammography and is responsible for performing in at least two areas as assigned. This position requires the technologist to explain procedures to the patient, position and immobilize the patient on exam table and observe during the scan. Works at a technical level in a capacity that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative and the ability to work independently without direct supervision. In those modalities where radiation is applied, the technologist uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Has knowledge and understanding of age related care needs for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Requires the ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians and OMC staff. EDUCATION Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training; registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Mammography Specific: Has met criteria for certification requirements in mammography. EXPERIENCE Two years experience in radiology preferred. One year experience in secondary specialty preferred. Thorough knowledge of specialty theory and application to include concepts, procedures, safety precautions and effects. REQUIREMENTS

• Certs: ARRT RT (R) (CT), BLS

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform basic bread and butter scans in a collaborative environment.
• Conduct X-Ray exams on extremities, abdomen, GI, spine, pelvis, head, chest, and musculoskeletal areas.
• Prepare and/or administer contrast media and start peripheral IVs.
• Execute special procedures including brain perfusion, coronary CTA, CT arthrography, myelography, and vascular CTA.
• Provide excellent customer service in patient interactions across various age groups.
NOTES
• Independent worker expected.
• Must wear professional scrubs without logos and in good condition.
• Orientation hours will be 40.
• Reliable transportation required due to facility location.
